CINCINNATI USA’S LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS BRING TOGETHER YOUNG PROFESSIONALS AND ESTABLISHED LEADERS TO HELP PEOPLE BETTER THEIR CAREERS AND THEIR CITY. By Corinne Minard HYPE A s the Chamber’s talent attrac tion and re te nt io n i n i t i at i ve , H YPE (H a r n e s s i n g Young Professional Energy) works to better Cincinnati’s future leaders. “We operate under the premise of three basic objectives,” says Julie Bernzott, manager of HYPE Young Professionals Programs at the CincinnatiUSA Regional Chamber. “The first of which is to build positive buzz about Cincinnati, our region and the things happening here. The second is to provide HR and recruitment professionals with tools they need to sell our region to people that they are trying to recruit. And the third is to provide programming that will engage people once they’re here.” HYPE’s myriad of programs work to further these objectives. C- Change is a yearlong program that develops personal leadership with community e n g a ge m e n t i n a s e t t i n g t h at e n a b l e s participants to meet fellow young professionals. The goal is to not only help them with their current career, but with future ones as well. Another program, Bold Fu sion, is the

attended the 2013 event. HYPE also offers a mentoring program called HYPE Ambassadors. “The HYPE Ambassadors program pairs people that are new to the area with what we call Cincinnati Ambassadors to help them orient themselves to Cincinnati and start to develop a network here,” says Bernzott.

WOMEN EXCEL

Women Excel’s goal is to help women “power up” on both personal and professional levels. Using leadership classes, opportunities to connect and annual awards, Women Excel assists women in learning the skills they need and getting the recognition they deserve. WE Lead is leadership development for women that uses coaching as well as classes to help participants. The 10-month program includes a full-day session, half-day coaching sessions plus two private sessions with a professional coach. WE Succeed is an extension of WE Lead, providing intense three-month coaching to develop leadership skills, solve issues and create a culture of integrity and accountability. “It is
