Self-Guided Tour Delaware Campus Welcome to Widener Law!

There is no better place to study law than Widener. Enjoy a challenging curriculum taught by respected legal scholars, a wealth of clinical programs and externships, and a diverse and welcoming community while pursuing a legal education that balances both theory and practice. Widener's two campuses offer day and evening programs which double your flexibility and career development opportunities. The following pages will guide you around our beautiful campus. We hope this self-guided tour will provide you with a sense of the campus atmosphere and amenities. Please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office for further information. Enjoy your tour!

Start at the Main Law Building Stand facing the campus with the main entrance doors behind you. Straight ahead are 2-story tan townhouses, offering 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for 2nd and 3rd year students. PASSMORE HOUSE, the brown building in front of the townhouses, handles maintenance and housing requests. SHIPLEY HALL is in the right corner. This dorm building has single occupancy rooms, kitchens on each floor and shared bathrooms. A small gym is accessible through Shipley. Additional parking and a Rugby field are behind. Parking spaces surround the campus, parking permits are issued during Orientation. BASKETBALL COURTS and TENNIS COURTS are to your right, in the middle of campus.

Turn around and enter the Main Law Building This is the 2nd floor; the Main Building has 4 floors total. ADMISSIONS is the first office on your left, please feel free to browse through our materials and contact us with any questions. The gray door next to Admissions leads to FACULTY and senior administrator offices upstairs. Please visit law.widener.edu for faculty specialties and contact information. RUBY R. VALE MOOT COURTROOM is through the double doors on your right. This room is a special events venue for moot court competitions, Delaware Supreme Court hearings (once or twice per year), and prominent regional speakers. Classes also take place here. The room is wireless and satellite capable for the Harrisburg campus. Outlets are available by each seat. THE LEGAL INFORMATION CENTER is at the end of the hall. Our library holds over 600,000 publications through three floors. This entrance is the second floor. We offer study rooms and carrels through the second and third floors. The computers allow access to Westlaw and LexisNexis; a training lab for these databases is on the 1st floor.


Facing the Legal Information Center entrance The OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS and CLINICS are down to the right. A Dean of Students is assigned to each student for counseling and advising. Our clinics, in which students represent their own client, include Environmental, Civil, Criminal, and Veterans Affairs. Each clinic is staffed by a supervising attorney. The Directors for the CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS are to the left. Our certificates include Business, Health, Advocacy & Technology and Environmental Law. Downstairs from Certificate Programs Behind the stairs, a bulletin board describes our study abroad programs. Facing the bulletin board, CROWN COURT, a snack bar, is to your right. Student Services, including REGISTRAR, FINANCIAL AID and BURSAR are down the hall to your left. Turn around and exit through the double doors at the end, as you pass through notice: MAILROOM and COPY CENTER on your right Each student receives a PO Box number from the mailroom. This is a nationwide functioning post office. Professors arrange for assignments and course supplements to be picked up at the copy center. LECTURE HALLS are in the alcove on your left. Feel free to enter but please do not disturb classes and turn off lights as you exit. Lecture halls include smart boards which are computer interactive. Although laptops are not required, most students bring them to class.

Exit through double doors follow the brick path around the building, to your right. The BOOKSTORE is on your left, feel free to stop in and browse the textbooks and Widener products. POLISHOOK HALL is straight ahead, this is the X shaped building on the map.

Enter Polishook double doors. Classrooms are to your right. To your left, towards the middle section, are the LAW JOURNAL suites. The Delaware campus offers three publications: Law, Economics and Race (dual campus), Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and Law Review. Please stop in and pick up a free copy on the back round table. Additionally, there is a TV studio allowing interactive meetings for journal members.

Continue through the middle lounge area. Offices for the Legal Education Institute, offering paralegal degrees, and University College, offering undergraduate degrees, are in this building. Additional lecture halls are at the end of each wing.


Exit through main doors, beyond the center lounge Follow the brick path and take the first right. To your left is an antique style building called GEESEY HOUSE, this is the ALUMNI AND DEVELOPMENT area. We offer many opportunities to network with graduates, including a mentorship program. BARRISTERS CLUB, our on campus cafeteria, is in the middle of campus behind the fountain. Barristers serves lunch with salads, soups, pizzas and made-to-order sandwiches. Cash only, we do not offer meal plans. The front of Barristers is a banquet space for special events and receptions. CONCORD COMMONS is in the last building on the left corner. This is our second dorm building which offers the same amenities as Shipley. SAFETY is also located here, they are available 24/7, issuing parking permits and student IDS. STUDENT ORGANIZATION offices are on the first floor, including the Student Bar Association. Please visit law.widener.edu for a complete list of student organizations.

Follow the brick path, past the flag pole, turning right. Enter the double door back entrance into the Main Law Building. This is the main hallway of the entire campus, the ALICE W. AND WALTER M. STRINE ATRIUM or “MAIN STREET”. During the first week of class, student organizations set up tables here for information and involvement. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (ITS) is to your right. They offer technical support and DELL discounts. Please visit law.widener.edu for more information. They also supervise the COMPUTER LAB to your left. One of our more popular STUDENT LOUNGE areas is directly across from the computer lab. Further down, the CAREER DEVELOPMENT center is through a hallway to your left. They offer career statistics and common employment locations. Career counselors can assist you in resume editing, interviewing skills or general guidance. Recruitment for jobs and internships occurs both on and off campus. LECTURE HALLS and lockers are further down towards your right. The stairs straight ahead lead you back to the main entrance, Admissions and Moot Court Room. We hope you enjoyed Widener Law!
