Happy Birthday, Church Farm School! April is CFS History Month, where we highlight the school's humble beginnings in 1918 and the changes it has undergone over the past almost century. Math teacher John Kistler spoke to the students about his memories of the farm as the son of longtime faculty member Jack Kistler, as well as those he has made as an official part of the community since 1980. You can read more about that here.

On April 1, we had a small birthday celebration for the school, featuring cake and ice cream! The month will be filled with presentations for the students, many by alumni, about the school's history, plus, we are holding a Cottage Competition called "Remembering the Farm" where each cottage must collectively create a work of art (e.g., song, poem, painting, skit, etc.) that represents the school's history. The works will be judged by an alumni panel during Alumni Reunion Weekend, April 24-26.

CFS Parents' Association Meeting on April 6 Following the Long Easter Weekend The next meeting of the CFS Parents' Association meeting is being held on Monday, April 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Learning Center following the long weekend. We hope you can join us, as Head of School Ned Sherrill will be the special guest! Can't make it in person? Call in at 1-866-962-6634 - password is 84478472#. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend with their sons. Some of the students (including Jeremy Shields '16, pictured right) kicked off the festivities early on March 28 when they volunteered to help out at West Whiteland Township's Easter Egg Hunt for children. Community service is an important way for our students to connect with county residents and learn the benefits of giving back.

Revisit Day and Carnival Make for an Exciting Saturday at CFS The

Residential Life team, along with the Class of 2018, organized a fun carnival on March 28 that included tons of carnival-style food (cotton candy, snow cones, corn dogs, popcorn, etc.) and games (sumo wrestling, velcro climbing wall, ring toss, mini golf, etc.). It was a really fun afternoon for everyone who attended, including Devon Martin (pictured) along with faculty and their families. Prior to the carnival, we had about 20 boys and their families visit the school as part of the Admission Team's Revisit Day. Students helped greet the families, pass out giveaways, give tours and even participated in a panel Q&A. Faculty was also on hand to talk about the school with visitors, and to teach "mini classes" so the boys and their families could get a sense of a day in the life of a Griffin!

Walt Lybrand '81 (pictuerd left) brought his unique perspective to the panel as an alum and current parent of Cameron Lybrand '19, a day student.

Don't Miss the CFS Choirs, Performing at the Gala on May 1 and the Spring Choral Concert on May 10

Have a student in choir or just love to hear them sing? Join us at the school's second annual Gala, "Broadway Bound" on May 1 at the Wayne Art Center! Details and online registration for this very important fundraiser for the school, along with other highlights of the evening, can be found here. Once again, the choir will perform their spring concert on Mother's Day. Join us in the school's Chapel of Atonement at 7:00 p.m. for a wonderful program conducted by Gary Gress, who is celebrating his 25th year at Church Farm School in 2015! If you haven't yet read his blog about the impact the school and his students have made on his life, it's a must read. We hope to see you there!

Mr. Eric Fulmer and Students Participate in Elementary School Project

Mr. Eric Fulmer, history

teacher, was asked by a family friend to participate in a project at her third-graders school based on a character from the children's book "Oliver K. Woodman" by Darcy Pattison where the wooden man travels across country with various people. Mr. Fulmer asked his students to each write about their home towns and create a Travel Diary for the third graders. "We gave Oliver a little makeover and colored his shirt maroon and put a grey CFS across his chest for good measure," Fulmer said. They return Oliver and their travel diary to the younger students this week!
