Image development 2

Above i took out the background black and replaced it with grey. It looked weird so i didnt continue. Water bottom left looks pretty cool with the gradient but just not clear enough.

Basically... I really liked the gradients on these images but due to the nature of the black background and the white/clear liquid it did not invert well on photoshop. Another problem i ran into is the dark edges of the image did not contrast well with the stock i was using. Needed somehting which would sit more smoothly against a white background or a black background. Above is an example of image not working along with the content, i tried to put it on a grey stock but it was still far to harsh.

The matt black background made it incredibly easy for post editing for the images, I made sure the background was fully black and then colourised the image, this gave a much more colourfull effect on the white but looked a bit odd so not sure if i was majorly keen on it.

Instead of colourising the image, i just played around with hue, I made sure not to bump up the saturation too much as it ruined the image qaulity, so the most i could get out of it was about 10 - 20 saturation.

Heres a smoke image, sadly i did not manage to get too many good ones of these as they were incredibly hard to take. But post productions a treat on these, inverted it shows all the detail within the image and then its either a case of colourising or just playing around with saturation/hue. This allowed me a white background as well.

Here is an image i am planning to use, I bumped up the saturation and the hue. Then with the spot heal i took out any random bits of noise in the background, I also took out a bit on the edge of the image to allow it not to look like the liquid is coming from a specific source but rather just floating. This allowed me some freedom with designing.

Top left is an example of the gradient images NOT working, looked about the same on an light background, the style of design which does work for that format is not relevant to the tone of voice of my current project either. Bottom left is an example of the saturation being bumped up too high by accident and the black not being completely black, makes for bad design. Top is Kind of getting the idea, but its still feeling a bit dull and its not drawing my attension as much as a poster should, a spot colour is needed.

The red spot colour agaisnt the black makes it pop much more, now I can focus a bit more on the layout to get it all fit perfectly. Things I have to add: Month Date Name/Logo Line ups admission opening times adress sponsors

LANDSCAPE! well in at the moment. figured i’d give it a go. But yeh landscape is very fresh especailly for screen view, so this poster could potentailly be used for an online application as well as being printer, would be an awkward shape for a lamp post type poster holder but ideal for a lond billboard. Was just a bit axious about the black & white colour as it could very easily bleed into the 12pt. text and render it completely illegible.

Printing on satin = no bleed. The black was slightly streeky but only visible when really close. But overall i was very happy with the result of this print. It meant i could power on and get on with this colour scheme. My blue/black/white colour scheme came out very nicely as well.
