RIA QUIAZON SCOTT After guiding the University of Oregon women’s golf team to several of its most successful seasons ever, fourth-year head coach Ria Quiazon Scott has quickly and resoundingly returned the Ducks among the nation’s elite.

In both of her collegiate head coaching stops, Scott has earned a reputation for recruiting and developing top collegiate talent after a decorated playing career. She played professionally from 2003-06 on various tours after helping lead the University of California to three NCAA appearances and Pac-10 Conference and NCAA West Regional team titles, while also playing on various national teams representing the Philippines. In the fall of 2011, some collegiate pundits thought the Ducks would have to rebuild after graduating three seniors who had helped UO to several of its greatest seasons. But Scott and her talented freshman class were ready to prove otherwise. The Ducks climbed as high as No. 12 in the Golfstat rankings and ended the fall ranked No. 18 after an impressive fourevent slate. Scoring-wise, its 295.8 team scoring average was nearly four strokes better than its 2010-11 mark (299.64) that broke the former school best by more than a stroke (300.97, 2008-09). The team’s high point was its five-under school record in the Stanford Intercollegiate (282-281-285-848) that broke the former school best by nine strokes. The Ducks also savored their second- and third-best rounds ever – 281 (-3) and 282 (-2) – in the event’s opening rounds. Oregon’s top player in the 2011-12 season, Cassy Isagawa, earned multiple accolodates after the season and became only the second player since 1998 to be named to the All-American team and the All-Pac-12 First Team. In her first season with the Ducks in 2009-10, Oregon played its best when it mattered the most and was rewarded with its first NCAA Championship trip in 10 years. UO opened the postseason with a best-ever Pac-10 Championships finish (third, 292-307-290-889) – four positions better than its pre-meet seeding against a field that featured four teams ranked top six nationally, and two more tabbed top 20. Two weeks later in the NCAA Central Regional, Oregon tied its second-highest ever regional effort (sixth, 305-316-318939) and ended five positions better than its pre-meet seeding. Not surprisingly, the Ducks steadily climbed the Golfstat/ Golfweek national rankings from 38th and 45th to open the season, respectively, to highs of 28th and 32nd in late May. In 2010-11, Oregon raised its play again, and combined on an all-time season best-average (299.64) – more than a stroke better than its previous best (300.97, 2008-09). The Ducks scored two tournament victories – their 23rd and 24th all-time - in the Dick McGuire / Branch Law Firm Invitational (295-296-290-881 (+5)) and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (304-297-290-891). UO tied its then-school record tournament score (five-over) in the former tourney, and added its third- and fifth-best ever scores in the Ptarmigan Ram Classic (eight-over) and Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown (13-over), respectively. In her prior two-year stint at the University San Francisco, the 2009 West Coast Conference Coach of the Year helped the Dons amass a similar host of team and individual accolades. In 2008-09, USF spent much of the spring ranked top 30 nationally en route to a school-record 300.19 scoring average – 4.29 strokes better than the previous program best. That fall, the Dons broke a school tournament scoring record to win the Kent Youel Invitational (3-under 867), then won the Oregon Duck Invitational and took second in the West Coast Conference for the second straight season (and eighth straight overall). Individually for USF, WCC Player of the Year Danielle Cvitanov ended the year ranked 43rd nationally in the Golfstat rankings after she posted a school-record season average (74.06). In the classroom, her team was equally successful, as USF athletes claimed five WCC All-Academic laurels. In 2007-08, her unit broke the school 54-hole tournament scoring record in the UNLV Rebel Spring Invitational (870) by four strokes. USF ended the season with six top-five finishes, including another runner-up WCC finish, as all five entries received all-league honors. Before her coaching stint, she racked up an impressive post-college professional resume (see box to left) after an impressive career for California. As a senior co-captain, she led the 2003 Bears in the NCAA Championships (28th overall), and was a 2003 All-Pac-10 and 2002 NCAA All-Region honoree. Her final season, she helped the Bears win a school-record seven tournaments, capture Pac-10 and NCAA Regional titles, and rank as high as second nationally. The two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention also won the 2003 Anna Espenschade Award, presented to Cal’s top graduating female student-athlete. Quiazon married Drew Scott, the former head coach of the Rice men’s golf team, in June 2010 and the couple had their first child, Walker, in April 2012.

STEPHANIE BROOKS In her 16th year with the Duck athletic treatment staff, Brooks serves a variety of key roles for Duck athletes and teams. The Oxnard, Calif., native serves as facilitator for our Duck Athletic Readiness Training (D.A.R.T.) program, oversees the health care needs of both golf teams, and assists with all aspects of clinical education coordination. She is also certified with the Titleist Performance Institute, and is able to work with the strength staff, players and coaches on improving body movement, mobility and stability to specifically help golf performance. A Fresno State graduate (1995), she earned a degree in Physical Education with an Athletic Training option, then earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Movement Science from Oregon in 1997, while working as a graduate assistant ((1996-1997). She also served one year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Cottage Grove High School (1995-1996). She resides in Eugene with her husband, Doug, daughter, Peyton and sons, Myles and Mayson.

JOEL FAVOR In his sixth year as a member of the nationally-recognized strength and conditioning Duck staff, Favor oversees programs for many of Oregon’s top teams. The San Diego native coordinates programs for the Duck football and golf squads. Before joining the Ducks, he served as a part-time assistant strength & conditioning coach at Humboldt State (Arcata, Calif.). He has also served as an intern strength & conditioning coach at Washington State University (Pullman, Wash.) assisting with football, men’s & women’s basketball, and volleyball squads. A former member of the Humboldt State football team, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in exercise science.

JASON JOHNSON In his third season as a Duck volunteer assistant coach, Johnson also serves as the head professional at Illahe Hills country Club. He is a Class A member of the PGA of America and has been at Eugene Country Club for over 5 1/2 years. “Jason has been an incredible asset to our program,” Oregon head coach Ria Scott said. “He was instrumental in running the 2010 Pac-10 Championships at Eugene Country Club. His experience with the JC Video system, and the TrackMan for swing and ball flight analysis has really helped us better understand our golf swings. And, as a member of the PGA, Jason keeps us current with the industry innovations in technology, equipment and instruction. Jason is married to wife, Stephany, and they have two daughters, Kora and Brynn.
