TurtleCreek Art Glass – Eleanor Brownridge
Catching the Wind
Creemore
Drop by the studio in an orchard in the Pretty River Valley to find me constructing a custom-designed stained glass window or filling my kilns for fusion glass art. Around the walls, in the garden and in the 150-year-old farm house next door, you’ll see a variety of my dramatic work. Share my passion for glass. Daylight through the windows transforms translucent red glass into gold and reveals the complexity of browns. Sunbeams through bevels fracture into rainbows. The colours and patterns on translucent sculptures and bowls are mirrored on the tables and walls.

Maplestone Gallery – Suzanne Steeves
4
Maplestone Gallery is on the main street in the scenic village of Creemore, Ontario. It’s one of only a handful of galleries in North America dedicated exclusively to contemporary mosaic art. This unique art form comes in a variety of mediums including traditional italian smalti, stained glass, and natural materials like marble and semi precious stones as well as pieces incorporating salvage and more exotic materials. Artist and curator Suzanne Steeves loves to share her passion for this ancient art whether in conversation or in one of her many introductory classes. In addition to the mosaic art on exhibit, Maplestone Gallery can arrange commissions from fine art pieces to architectural enhancement projects. Workshops and classes are also available.

Black Dog Creative Arts – Rosemary Hasner
9 Farmer’s Paradise
Rosemary has won numerous awards for her sometimes nostalgic, often humorous and always surreal depictions of the rural world. She moved to the country in 1999 and was immediately smitten, using its landmarks as her inspiration and her subject. Her artwork starts with photography but most people just don’t believe it – they think she’s a painter. She isn’t, but she does borrow on the techniques of painters and collage artists to create her digital mixed-media artwork. Please visit her website and select “Art” to see more.

Rosemarie translates experiences onto canvas; each composition begins with an adventure. Rosemarie is currently working on a series of paintings, "Jewels of Rural Ontario". Paintings in this series depict rural life in the Headwaters Region and greater Ontario. This project leads her to explore farmers’ fields with their old implements and vehicles, old foundations and restored barns, and striking or unusual subjects along our sideroads. Rosemarie uses a limited palette and works primarily with acrylic paints, often layering with oil in the final phase of a painting. Address:

Farm Talk
You are invited to come and see the new impressionistic and experimental oil paintings. They cover a wide range of subjects, from the memories of the boy I was, the farmers and the markets, the boats and the ocean, to the Dutch landscape. Living in Mono Township and exploring the surrounding area is a constant inspiration to experiment with colour, form and texture. A two-month stay in Amsterdam last fall and seeing a lot of Dutch art has provided new inspiration to explore different approaches. Address: Directions:

Susan paints pure, watercolour landscapes. The rolling rhythms and changing light upon Ontario’s most beautiful geological landform, the Niagara Escarpment, is her inspiration. Her most recent watercolour landscapes are bolder and more graphic. They depict the diverse vegetation, endless patterns and brilliant colours of Ontario’s woodlands and forests.

'The Ink Sings and the Brush Dances' – In sumi-e, body, breath and brush are one as I move and breathe with the brushstrokes, reaching within myself to share my spirit with the image on the page. I want my images to move and feel as I carry the viewer into my world.

Wellington Artists’ Gallery and Art Centre
Visit our Gallery at the south end of Main St and see the dazzling collection of glittering glass, jewellery and pottery. Be as impressed as Damon Neal was when he chose to include Erin Gallery in the “Treasures of Ontario” volume in the “Treasures of…” series of coffee table books from prestigious publishers Morgan & Chase.*
Wellington Artists’ Gallery and Art Centre is a co-operative gallery presenting the works of 30 local visual artists. Nestled in a grove of beautiful cedars, the Gallery features fine works in many media. A Guest Artist is showcased monthly in the Main Gallery and as well a special exhibition is featured monthly in the Lower Gallery. Frequently these special exhibitions are hosted by local art groups or art associations. Many instructors take advantage of the workshop facility to bring skilful techniques to new and emerging artists. Located on a major Cnty Rd connecting directly to Hwy 401, the Gallery is well signed and highly visible. Last season brought a high volume of visitors….local, international and many from the Golden Horseshoe. This premier Gallery is a ‘must-visit’ for those seeking the finest of works.
Contemporary-styled works, mostly exclusive to us, from over 50 Canadian artisans (some well known, some emerging) are now available to residents of and visitors to the area. * “LIKE A VISIT TO ALADDIN’S CAVE” Barry Burchell, Publisher, CALEDON LIVING magazine.

Janet Simmons Sweet, Alton Mill Janet Simmons Sweet’s artworks are oil or acrylic on canvas, classified as realism with aspects of impressionism. Her favourite Artists come from the Old Masters, with Rembrandt’s use of bold colour to create dramatic light topping the list. “Skies are the key to my work. I grew up on the shores of Lake Ontario, in a small town, where the best part of the day was spent lying on your back in a field of wild flowers, watching the clouds shift and morph in an on-going story of dramatic light and form. I fell in love with painting my imagination in those fields, and have spent a lifetime trying to capture that magic on canvas.” In every painting the drama is the story that is the light. Address:

Trained at Sheridan College as an Illustrator, Susanna Lamy’s career veered off into the larger-scale art of mural painting. Drawing inspiration from instruction in Italy and travels through Europe, she has spent the past fourteen years decorating both residential and commercial sites with murals. A commission to produce some smaller trompe-l’oeil paintings for enlarging into wallpaper murals, took her into the studio. Joining the myriad of artists at the Alton Mill, she is enjoying the opportunity to now build on her own inventory of paintings in oil and acrylic. Address:
