1.GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.1 The fourth edition of International Animation Festival CHILEMONOS 2015 call for entries for animated works to attend and compete for its many awards. 1.2 Participants can apply either in an individual basis or as a team, participants must be at least 18 years old, all nationalities allowed, submitted works must comply with the guidelines and technical requirements appropriate for their exhibition. 1.3 Participation is free of charge. 1.4 A single online form will allow participants to enter all categories. The form to be filled can be found at the official website www.festivalchilemonos.cl.

2.DEADLINE FOR APPLYING

2.1 Online application will be available from October 15th 2014 through January 5th 2015, 12:00 PM noon Chilean Time (GMT - 4).

3.CATEGORIES

Ibero-American Animated Feature Film Competition International Animated Short Film Competition Latin American Animated Short Film Competition International Experimental Animated Short Film Competition International School Short Film Competition Chilean School Short Film Competition Latin American Animated series Competition Latin American Animated Web Series Competition

3.1 Ibero-American Animated Feature Film Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting Ibero-American full-length films. Competing entries must be produced in a Latin American country or in Spain. This category awards the BEST IBERO-AMERICAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILM trophy for the winner. Additionally, second and third place entries will be awarded a digital certificate. 3.2 International Animated Short Film Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting International short films. Competing entries must be produced in a country not located in Latin America or Spain. This category awards the BEST IBEROA-MERICAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILM trophy for the winner. Additionally, second and third place entries will be awarded a digital certificate. 3.3 Latin American Animated Short Film Competition.

3.4 International Experimental Animated Short Film Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting experimental short films, defined as such both by their narratives and visual styles. Competing entries must be produced in a Latin American country, including Chile. This category awards the BEST INTERNATIONAL EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILM trophy for the winner. Additionally, second and third place entries will be awarded a digital certificate.

3.5 International School Short Film Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting short films produced under the guidance of educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities or vocational schools, released either while enrolled or as a final senior project. Competing entries from all countries allowed, excluding Chile. This category awards the BEST INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION PRODUCED SHORT FILM trophy for the winner. Additionally, second and third place entries will be awarded a digital certificate. 3.6 Chilean School Short Film Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting short films produced under the guidance of educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities or vocational schools, released either while enrolled or as a final senior project.

This category awards the BEST LATIN AMERICAN SHORT FILM AND BEST CHILEAN SHORT FILM trophy for the winner. Additionally, second and third place entries will be awarded a digital certificate.

Competing entries must be produced in Chile. The Festival staff reserves the right to check the student status of participants. This category awards the BEST CHILEAN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION PRODUCED SHORT FILM trophy for the first place. Second and third places will be awarded special trophies. Chilean students enrolled in international schools must participate in the international version of this category. 3.7 Latin American Animated Series Competition.

Competition aimed at exhibiting animated shows produced by independent artists, studios or television channels with or without state grant funds and released prior to the application date. Competing entries must be produced in a Latin American country, including Chile. Only one episode per series is allowed to compete. This category awards both BEST LATIN AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION PRODUCED SHORT FILM and BEST CHILEAN ANIMATED SERIES trophies for the winners. Second and third places will be awarded a digital certificate.

Additionally, educational television channel NOVASUR will award the NOVASUR AWARD FOR BEST LATIN AMERICAN SERIES. School students throughout Chile will decide the winner through a poll. 3.8 Latin American Animated Web Series Competition. Competition aimed at exhibiting animated online series produced by independent artists, studios or television channels with or without state grant funds and released prior to the application date. Competing entries must be produced in a Latin American country, including Chile. Only one episode per series is allowed to compete. This category awards the BEST LATIN AMERICAN ANIMATED WEB SERIES trophy for the first place. Second and third places will be awarded a digital certificate.

4.COMPETITION GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

4.1 Submitted works must have been released after January 1st 2012. 4.2 Submitted works must not have been submitted in a previous version of this festival. 4.3 Entries are allowed to feature any animation technique. 4.4 Entries not in Spanish must provide a script or feature English subtitles. 4.5 Submission The films can be submitted through. 1. Online Entry Form at the official website of the Festival. www.festivalchilemonos.cl (Free).

4.7 Entries submitted will be evaluated by the Festival Committee, composed of national and international experts in audiovisual arts and culture, who will judge and determine which entries will participate in each category. The Committee’s decision is final and not subject to appeal. 4.8 Physical material such as DVDs submitted will not be returned to the participants. Said material will be kept by the Festival for historical purposes. 4.9 By entering the contest and submitting works, participants agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions of the Festival. Furthermore, by applying through the Online Form, participants confirm that they have the rights to the work being

submitted and they agree the Festival has permission to exhibit their Work at the Festival, from May 6th to May 10th 2015 in Chilean territory, in accordance with Chilean Intellectual Property Law No. 17,336. The participant also confirms that he or she has received full explicit authorization from the owner(s) of any copyrighted elements not in their property appearing either fully or in part on their Works that fall under Intellectual Property Protection, either under National or International Law. Additionally, the participant agrees that any situation arising from the use of Intellectual Property of a third party fully conforms to the terms and conditions on this document, subject to exceptions indicated in Title III of the previously mentioned Law. “Authorization of use of a copyrighted work” shall be understood as permission given by the author or copyright holder of said copyrighted work in any contractual form for the use of the copyrighted work according to the terms established by Intellectual Property Law.

Once your submission has been correctly received the festival organization will send you an e-mail confirming the submission.

4.10 The Festival shall not be held responsible for any violation of Intellectual Property Law arising by the participants’ use of protected works.

4.11 The Festival Administration reserves the right to make any decisions concerning situations not covered by these Terms and Conditions.

5. JURY

5.1 The Jury shall be composed of professionals of multiple areas related to the contest, including animators, producers, cultural managers, guest directors and members of international entities related to the Festival. 5.2 Individuals directly related to any of the participating entries shall be barred from participating as part of the Jury. 5.3 The Jury’s decision is final and not subject to appeal.

6.OFFICIALLY SELECTED ENTRIES

6.1 Officially selected entries will be published on February 3rd 2015 at the Event’s official website, www.festivalchilemonos.cl. Participants agree that, by applying to the pre-selection stage, the Festival has permission to use stills from their Works to promote the officially selected entries through appropriate media. 6.2 Entries officially selected to participate will receive an Official Digital Certificate. 6.3 Authors of officially selected entries will be contacted through email with instructions related to the format, date and method of submittal of their Works to be exhibited. Works delivered after the deadline ends will be automatically disqualified from participating.

6.4 Participants are responsible of all transportation and accommodation costs. Nevertheless, Festival can provide on request a letter of Proof of Selection addressed to an institution specified by the participant.

7. PHYSICAL DELIVERY METHODS

7.1 Costs incurred by physical delivery of Works through postal mail (both in Pre-selection and Selection stages) shall be responsibility of the participant. 7.2 Entries selected for official participation shall be mailed with the appropriate specifications to ensure their safe delivery. 7.3 The Festival shall not be held responsible for damages or losses arising from the transport of their deliveries.
