In this exciting, intense workshop, students will learn to think and stretch their imagination by learning new techniques and importance of content, whether working in abstraction or realism. Focus will be on the elements of texture, shape, value, color, and the principles of design. Use unexpected materials to create a textured painting using a cruciform format, create a strata painting, and totally transform a failed painting using acrylic paints. You will also use masks to create a design understructure, use a grid format to design a painting, use collage to learn composition, and learn to crop for good designs. Through daily demonstrations and positive critiques, Pat helps take the “fear out of painting.” Repeat students can choose to bring “starts” from home to finish and/or be given new, challenging projects.

“I love putting paint on paper. I love the excitement of putting a mat around my work to see how I’m doing. I love taking my paintings that didn’t work at all and trying everything possible to make “a purse out of a sow’s ear”. I enjoy learning new ideas, new techniques and new products. I guess you could say I love watercolor. My goal in this workshop is to convey this love and excitement to you. ”, (Joe). In this workshop, you will create your very own watercolor “howto” book to take home with you and use as a reference tool in your painting for many years to come. In addition, you will use the techniques you learn to create great watercolor paintings. The main concentration in this workshop is on your individual development as an artist. There will be lots of demos, individual help, encouragement, and positive critiques. This funshop will be great for All Levels of artists, but especially for beginners to intermediate painters. “Cheap Joe”, a pharmacist turned artist, founded Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff in 1985. www.donandrews.net Through the language of watercolor, painters can explore the natural world in fresh, exciting, and more personal ways. Regardless of the landscape we choose to explore, or our personal approach to painting, we all have in common the search for a more vital color statement. Color offers us a wonderful opportunity to express our individual feelings about any chosen subject. Don’s Color Emphasis Landscape class isn’t geared to any specific level of achievement, rather artists at All Levels will benefit. This workshop will be packed with demonstrations, discussions, individual help, personal and group critiques.
