When packing light for longer trips, try bringing a softly-lined raincoat. You don't want to be caught in terrible weather without a way to protect yourself. That coat can also serve as protection on a windy afternoon or even be used as a robe around your hotel room. Jet lag can cause problems during long flights. You can't avoid it completely, but you can try sleeping more in the days prior to your flight to help lessen any of the expected effects. Try to rest as much as possible while on the plane. Make sure your passport isn't expired. Most countries have passport regulations with which you must comply. A country may decide to not let you enter if your passport is expiring within a certain amount of time. These tend to range from three to six months, but in some cases can reach eight


months or even a year. Sleeping pills can get you through a red-eye flight. For many, sleeping on a noisy and uncomfortable airplane can be difficult. You may want to consider bringing sleeping pills with you on your flight, in order to rest comfortably. Don't take these prior to takeoff, as there may be a delay or problem that requires a return. Travels across different time zones can result in serious jet lag. You can't avoid it completely, but you can try sleeping more in the days prior to your flight to help lessen any of the expected effects. Additionally, sleep during the flight as much as possible. Make sure your passports are up-to-date by checking the expiration date. Many countries have rules concerning passports. You are usually not allowed to enter a country if your passport expires soon. Typically if your passport is due to expire in 3-6 months you will be denied visitation. However, this time frame can extend to 8-12 months. If you're going on a road trip with your small child, make sure you take a break every couple hours or so. Taking a break allows you to stretch your legs and use a bathroom. In addition, giving your child a chance to get out of the vehicle occasionally can reduce any motion sickness they may be experiencing. Your trip may become a little longer, but the reduced stress will be worth any delay. When traveling, and sitting for long periods of time, get up about once every hour to stretch out your legs. If on a plane, go to the restroom even if you don't need to. Sitting for extended periods is bad for the muscles and can even be dangerous. It can cause blood clots. Contact lens cases are a useful container for traveling. You can keep just a small bit of hair gel or lotion inside to last through the trip. If you travel smart, you will notice that your trips and vacations are less stressful and more enjoyable.
