The Weekly Word POWER FROM ON HIGH

DISCIPLES, "Have you received the Holy Spirit SINCE YOU BELIEVED? If you get all the Holy Spirit there is to receive at the moment of salvation then why would Paul ever ask such a question? Paul himself knew that salvation and receiving the Holy Spirit are two completely separate experiences. Acts chapter 9 details the account of Rev. Timothy Stahlman when Paul was converted to Christ. Before Family Church Paul was given a new Jamestown name he was called Saul fcjamestown.org of Tarsus. As a young man, Saul of Tarsus Acts 8:16 says, "For as did despicable things yet He (the Holy Spirit) to Christians. One day was fallen upon NONE Saul of Tarsus had been OF THEM only they given the authority by were baptized in the religious leaders to go to Name of the Lord Jea city called Damascus sus." These people had to arrest certain Chrisbeen publicly baptized tians. On the road to in the Name of Jesus Damascus an incredmaking a declaration of ible thing happened to their faith in Christ. But him. Acts 9:3-6 says, notice what the Bible "And as he journeyed... says about these believ- there shined a light from ers: The Holy Spirit Heaven around him and had not YET fallen he fell to the earth and upon any of them. I was heard a voice saying taught growing up that 'Saul why do you persea person receives all the cute me?' And Saul said, Holy Spirit they are ever 'Who are you Lord?' going to get the moand the Lord said, 'I am ment they get saved. Of Jesus'...and Saul tremcourse the Holy Spirit bling...said, 'Lord what does a great work at the will you have me to do?" moment of salvation but Everyone can agree there must be more. In that this is when Saul of Acts 19:2 the Apostle Tarsus, later to be called Paul asked certain the Apostle Paul, con-

fesses Jesus as Lord and becomes a believer. The Lord then tells Saul to go into Damascus and await word of what he should do. While Saul is waiting THREE DAYS in Damascus, the Lord instructs a Christian DISCIPLE by the name of Ananias to go and minister to Saul. (Acts 9:10) Remember: Ananias is a disciple, not an apostle, prophet, or pastor. Acts 9:17 tells us what happened, "And Ananias went his way and entered into the house and putting his hands on Saul said, 'BROTHER SAUL, the Lord Jesus that appeared to you in the road has sent me that you might receive your sight and BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.'" Notice that Ananias called Saul a brother. That's because Saul had become a Christian on the road 3 DAYS BEFORE. Now Jesus wants Saul to be filled with Holy Spirit. This is a completely different experience than what happened on the road as he came. The Apostle Paul, the Samaritan believers, and the Ephesian disciples all experienced a separate filling of the Holy Spirit. Why would it be different with us today?

Tech Goals to Save Money and Make Life Easier Contributed Article StatePoint

These days, the average consumer needs to budget for a variety of techrelated expenses -- from data plans to cable bills. These monthly expenses quickly add up. Here are a few smart strategies for saving money on these budget line items, as well as tips for avoiding common pain points and consumer grievances. • Know what you’re paying for. Many tech-related monthly bills contain hidden fees and fine print. “Your mobile bills are some of the most complex. From paying for bits and bytes to hidden fees, the advertised low monthly payment never seems to materialize on your statement,” says Andrea Smith, technology expert and journalist. In an average year, consumers pay more than $17.2 billion in taxes and fees to the wireless carriers. Often they don’t even know what these fees are for! To save on your bills, look for transparent billing practices, like those that include all taxes in fees on statements and don’t charge you a penny more than promised. T-Mobile’s unlimited monthly plan, T-Mobile ONE, now includes all taxes and fees in the pricing. It’s one of the only wireless providers who guarantee that the price you are advertised is the price you pay. • Treat your data as a right, not a privilege. It is predicted the majority of TV will be viewed on mobile devices this year, so be prepared to use more data each month than ever before. One key tip: connect your mobile devices to Wi-Fi whenever possible. If excess data charges constantly turn your family’s wireless bill into a

monthly nightmare, find an unlimited plan or a wireless provider that doesn’t charge overages, so your leisure activities aren’t counted against you. Right now, T-Mobile is offering a family of four unlimited data for $40 per line, with taxes and fees included in that price, so there are no bill surprises. The plan also pays $10 back each month to customers who use less than 2GB. • Help technology help you. These days, mobile apps can help you track spending and some can even help you save. For example, Mvelopes, a free budgeting app, helps users avoid over spending by offering real-time updates

as purchases are made. Other apps such as Mint, give users an opportunity to check credit scores and automate bill payments. • Look for rewards, and then take advantage of them. When choosing service providers, seek out reward programs like the ones you find for credit cards. Some tech companies offer customers exclusive deals on entertainment, dining and more when you download an app or sign up for the program. For example, the T-Mobile Tuesdays app features weekly free offers and discounts to customers from partners including Fandango, Lyft,

Wendy’s, Shell Gas and more. • Evaluate your needs, and slim down accordingly. Do a tech audit. Are you really using that cable or landline service enough to make the expense worthwhile? Could you be a cord cutter and just use streaming video services for TV? Evaluate your consumption for a month and determine if you actually use all the services that you pay for each month. As we all come to rely more on our technology, it can be easy to pay extra fees blindly. Becoming an informed consumer can help take on any potential challenge or unexpected change.

Brooks and Auxiliary to Host Major Fundraiser in 2017 “BROOKS ON COURSE” GOLF TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 2ND Contributed Article Brooks Memorial Hospital

As we embrace the course of our future, Brooks Memorial Hospital is honored with the distinct pleasure of building a new hospital to service the healthcare needs of our community. Together with the Auxiliary of BMH, Brooks is on course to raise the vital, unrestricted dollars needed to avail patients at the new hospital with state-of-the art medical equipment and technology in a comfortable and therapeutic environment. We invite our community to join us at Brooks on Course, a golf tournament fundraiser at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk on Friday, June 2, 2017. This year, Brooks will align efforts with its valued Auxiliary to jointly host a single major fundraiser in 2017. According to Sheila Walier, Director of Marketing and Community Relations for the hospital, “A co-hosted golf tournament format will provide for more efficient utilization of our combined resources”. Our Auxiliary’s annual Dinner/Dance/Auction is also typically held in June at Shorewood CC. We feel it makes sense, at least for this year, to combine these events to maximize attendance and reduce the vast amount of leg work involved in planning large scale events such as these.” Brooks is delighted to have Richard Ketcham and Sue Behr serve as honorary co-chairs. Currently, a planning committee is securing tournament sponsors and in the near future will begin soliciting basket raffle and silent auction items from local merchants. An 8’ x 10’ custom built shed will be offered in a grand prize raffle. Stay tuned for information on ways to participate in this memorable day. Donation and registration links will be made available on our website at www.brookshospital.org by the end of January. For more information, contact Brooks Community Relations Department at 363-3313 or by email at myhealth@brookshospital.org.

UPMC Chautauqua WCA Launches New Television Commercial Contributed Article UPMC Chautauqua WCA

WCA Hospital, now with a new name, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, recently launched a television commercial announcing its affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). The integration became official on December 1, 2016. Produced by UPMC, the 60-second and 30-second television spot features physicians, patients, staff, and community residents of Jamestown. The commercial airs on network and cable television and introduces the hospital with a new name working together with world-renowned UPMC. Actress Blythe Danner provides the voiceover for the commercial saying, “Together UPMC and WCA Hospital are bringing life changing medicine to Western New York.” The spot ends with Blythe narrating, “Changing lives every day, UPMC Chautauqua WCA.” The heart of the commercial features the people you know from UPMC Chautauqua WCA who touch the care of the many individuals the hospital serves. The commercial was filmed at the main campus of the hospital and captures the beautiful scenic backdrop of Jamestown. Excited about the integration with UPMC, Betsy T. Wright, president UPMC Chautauqua WCA, says the hospital is able to build on the great care the hospital provides and now has access to more specialists, world-class protocols, and research.

Pictured, William Geary, MD, Ph.D., director of pathology, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, is one of the principal actors in UPMC Chautauqua WCA’s new television commercial. (UPMC submitted photo)

“We have many reasons to celebrate our local hospital and this is another reason to stand up and cheer,” said Mrs. Wright. “We are proud of our 131 year tradition of delivering excellent care to the community. Now, together with world-renowned UPMC and UPMC Hamot, we have opportunities to build an even stronger hospital. The television spot truly conveys the essence

of who we are and the bright future that lies ahead of us.” UPMC is one of the country’s largest provider-led integrated health care delivery and finance systems and a leading academic medical center that is consistently ranked in the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Annual Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals.

“This is such a great opportunity,” said Mariah Battle, UPMC Chautauqua WCA registered nurse and principal actor in the television commercial referring to the integration. “It will mean more quality of care for our patients.” To watch the TV spot or learn more about the care of UPMC Chautauqua WCA, go to UPMCChautauquaWCA. org.

A Century of Love Songs By Amy Shake Administrative and Marketing Assistant

Love songs are not a new phenomenon. Since the beginning of time, love has been discussed in poetry and song. The twentieth century, however, seems to have turned The Love Song into a genre all its own. There are thousands of love songs written in the last century, how can you possibly narrow it down? Let’s begin with some of the most lovey-dovey songs of each decade. The 1920s “The Roaring Twenties” were exactly that. Roaring with flappers, jazz and The Harlem Renaissance, the ‘20s were defined by the art, literature and music of “The Lost Generation” in the wake of World War I. But even from a time of post-war disillusionment (I’m looking at you, Gatsby!), there came some beautiful love songs. It Had To Be You (1924) With Isham Jones’ simple, straightforward lyrics and dreamy-sounding vocal line, this has my pick for one of the most romantic songs of the 1920s. This isn’t just a song about loving someone, it’s a song about needing someone. “With all of your faults, I love you still” is possibly one of the most meaningful promises loved ones can make to one another, and it’s the line that sends It Had To Be You to the top of my list. You may know this song as made famous by Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. I suggest you also take a listen to the original Marion Harris version, which is slightly more upbeat with a bit of a ragtime feel. And don’t forget Marla Hooch’s rendition from the movie A League of Their Own – now there’s a heartfelt performance! The 1930s Alright, so the 1930s were marked by The Great Depression and the turmoil leading up to World War II. Doesn’t exactly seem like the right atmosphere for love songs, right? So, so wrong. With the advent of the “talkie” at the end of the previous decade, the

popularity of movie musicals exploded in the ‘30s. Jazz music also carried over, giving way to the big band era. In other words, this was an amazing time for music and love songs. They Can’t Take That Away From Me (1937) Honestly, it was very difficult to pick just one amazing love song from the ‘30s. Classics like The Way You Look Tonight, Cheek to Cheek and I’ve Got You Under My Skin all came out of this decade. But I kept coming back to They Can’t Take That Away From Me, a George and Ira Gershwin classic from the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers film “Shall We Dance.” This song is about the little things in a relationship that endear people to one another. Sure, sometimes love is grand. But sometimes love is just, “the way you sip your tea” or “the way you hold your knife.” Siiiiiigh. There are so many great recordings of this song out there. The original Fred Astaire version is understated and lovely. If you’re looking for a more upbeat version, I suggest checking out Sarah Vaughan or Frank Sinatra. And for a romantic slow dance moment, try Billie Holiday or, my personal favorite, Ella Fitzgerald. The 1940s The 1940s appears scarred by the Second World War, but it was also a decade of post-war prosperity and the beginnings of tremendous change. Big bands and movie musicals were still going full tilt as the most popular musical forms of the time, and much of what we know now as jazz standards came out of this decade. As Time Goes By (1942) OK, technically this song was written by Herman Hupfeld in 1931, but it wasn’t made popular until 1942 when it was incorporated into Casablanca. Maybe the movie colors my view of this song, but it definitely has a “love never dies” theme. The lyrics pose, “It’s still the same old story/a fight for love and glory/a case of do or die.” If that’s not an epic love declaration, I don’t know what is. Incidentally, the 1942 hit version was actually a recording from 1931 by Rudy Vallée, which was

re-released because the musicians’ strike at the time prevented Dooley Wilson from recording the Casablanca version. Both, however, are truly classic. I also suggest taking a listen to the iconic versions by Jimmy Durante or Louis Armstrong. The 1950s Post-war bliss coupled with the Cold War led to prosperity of the middle class, major scientific developments, and Rock’n’Roll! Music styles such as gospel, R&B and country all came together to create what is considered a truly American genre. Unchained Melody (1955) Do I even need to tell you what about this song is romantic? The pleading nature of the lyrics paired with the sobbing vocal line just gives way to an amazingly iconic romance song. Just about everyone has heard the quintessential Righteous Brothers version, but have you ever heard Al Hibbler’s charming vocal recording, or the dreamy orchestral and choral arrangement by Les Baxter? Yes, this rock hit was originally an orchestral ballad. Both versions topped the Billboard charts in 1955, ten full years before the Righteous Brothers. This song made it big with the country set too, performed by the likes of Elvis and LeAnn Rimes. The 1960s The 1960s came in like a lamb and went out like a lion. Rarely in history has a single decade seen so much upheaval and change as America during the ‘60s. If you need an idea of how much art and music changed in a short time, just listen to all The Beatles’ albums in chronological order. Here, There and Everywhere (1966) Speaking of The Beatles, Here, There and Everywhere is one of my favorite songs off their 1966 album Revolver. If you’re not a dedicated Beatles fan, you may not know this one. Sadly, it’s not often played on radio stations or used in move soundtracks like many of their super hits. But that’s part of what makes this song so great – it’s unassuming and organic. It begins CONTINUED ON PAGE 18

A CENTURY OF LOVE SONGS, CONTINUED FROM PAGE 17 with, “To lead a better life I need my love to be here,” and simply goes on to talk about that feeling of just always wanting to be near each other. That’s true romance. The 1970s The 1970s started in a flourish, with America having successfully landed on the moon in July 1969. The ‘70s brought us Watergate, the end of the Vietnam War, and…disco. But rock hit a stride in the ‘60s that continued to develop throughout the ‘70s, too. Your Song (1970) Elton John’s hit Your Song set the bar high for love ballads right at the beginning of the 1970s. John writes some of the most honest lyrics of any love song in history, “You see, I've forgotten/If they're green or they're blue/Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean/Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen.” This off-the-cuff style of writing brings a rawness to the love ballad that we don’t always hear, and is part of what makes it so notable. The 1980s Everything was inflated in the ‘80s – the dollar, the hairstyles, and the music. Giant “power ballads” became the norm for 1980’s recording artists, complete with larger than life music videos. You’re The Inspiration (1984) Seems obvious, no? Chicago’s smash hit is everything a sappy ‘80s power ballad should be. Computer-generated echoes, all the electronic instrumentation you can imagine, and a huge key change are only part of what makes this power ballad so great. The tight vocal harmonies are essential in creating the powerful statement, "you're the meaning in my life." Also, the music video leads us to believe it's supposed to be a great make out song. The 1990s If you thought the '80s were big, they were only a precursor to the '90s. Another period of economic prosperity, the 1990s brought us the Internet! It also was a period of alternative everything – lifestyles, fashion and music. I Knew I Loved You (1999) Savage Garden was a sort of half boy band alternative pop duo band. What-

ever their style was, they really knew how to write a love song, sending two amazing love songs to Billboard #1 (the first being Truly Madly Deeply in 1997). I Knew I Loved You is about love at first sight; actually, love before first sight. “I knew I loved you before I met you/I think I dreamed you into life” gave every spaghetti strap and butterfly clip-wearing girl shivers. The 2000s The new millennium brought with it a completely new lifestyle now that the World Wide Web was deeply ingrained in our culture and our infrastructure. Music took a new turn as well, as new and improved technology allowed for… artistic liberties. But don’t worry, there was still some powerful raw talent out there. If I Ain’t Got You (2004) Alicia Keys’ 2004 R&B/Soul hit still rings true with many because it reminds us that the only thing that really matters is love. Money, fame, youth and beauty mean nothing without love, right? “Some people want diamond rings/Some just want everything/But everything means nothing/If I ain't got you.” This song is also a throwback to the classic R&B of the ‘50s and ‘60s, and I couldn’t love it more for that. The 2010s Here we are, our current decade! It’s been a wild ride. We live for our screens, strapped to tiny handheld computers that are more powerful than the roomfuls of equipment that landed the first men on the moon. But creativity is at an all-time high! Music may have changed, but writing a good love song sure hasn’t. End of the World (2014) Zombies and post-apocalyptic dystopias have become extraordinarily popular in the last few years. It turns out Ingrid Michaelson is a fan, particularly of The Walking Dead. During a binge-watch session, she was inspired to write this beautiful song. She asks, “At the end of, at the end of the world/will you find me so that we can go together?” Admittedly, the apocalypse is not so romantic. But it begs the question – who would you want next to you at the end of the world? That’s true love.

Opera House Cinema Series to Screen “20th Century Women” Contributed Article Fredonia Opera House

The next feature film in the Opera House Cinema Series is “20th Century Women,” starring Annette Bening. It will be screened on Sat., Feb. 4, and Tues., Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, “20th Century Women” also received Golden Globe nominations for Best PictureMusical or Comedy and Best Actress for Bening. Written and directed by Mike Mills (“Beginners”), the film is semi-autobiographical, based on Mills’ childhood. During the summer of 1979, a Santa Barbara single mom and boardinghouse landlord (Bening) decides the best way she can parent her teenage son (Lucas Jade Zumann) is to enlist her young tenants – a quirky punk photographer (Greta Gerwig), a mellow handyman (Billy Crudup) and her son’s shrewd best friend (Elle Fanning) - to serve as role models in a changing world. Manohla Dargis, in the New York Times, calls the film “a funny, emotionally piercing story about a teenager and the women who raise him.” Ann Hornaday in the Washington Post, calls it “a celebration of personal and social history. ‘20th Century Women’ takes the audience back. But it also lifts us up on a wave of openhearted emotion and keen intelligence.” Joe Morgenstern, in the Wall Street Journal, calls it “something special.” Anthony Lane, in The New Yorker, says “the movie belongs wholeheartedly to Bening, and to the age, come and gone, that she en-

shrines.” Rated R for sexual material, language, some nudity and brief drug use, “20th Century Women” runs one hour, 59 minutes. The Opera House Cinema Series is sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank. Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. A book of 10 movie passes is available for $60 at the door or online at www.fredopera.org. For more information, call the Opera House Box Office at 716-679-1891. The Opera House is equipped with individualized closed captioning headsets for the deaf as well as with assistive listening headsets for the hearingimpaired. Simply request one from any usher or Opera House staff member. Headset funding provided by Robert & Marilyn Maytum, the John Ben Snow Memorial Trust, the Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club, and by a grant from Theatre Development Fund’s TAP Plus program in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts. The 1891 Fredonia Opera House is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia. For a complete schedule of events, visit www. fredopera.org.

Dare to Pair Pinot and Plover on Vacation Contributed Content NewsUSA

Wine lover? Nature enthusiast? Both? Argentina and Chile, with unparalleled biodiversity and distinguished wines, are ideal journeys for you! The two countries share the majestic Andes, the longest natural border in the world. Weave through these mountains, which connect diverse ecosystems, and relish the geographic extravaganza of contrasts. Opportunities to see native, even rare, bird species abound, as does exploring vineyards and wineries. Wildlife and plants fill your senses and extraordinary wines fill your glasses, making each day amazing. There's Mendoza, for example. You'll find exquisite olives, fruit and cheese here, too, but it's mainly about the wine. Imagine yourself sampling Argentine Malbec or Pinot Noir in a vineyard perched over 4,250 feet in the foothills of the Andes. You may even spy a massive Andean condor soaring overhead. East of Mendoza, the vast scrub plain of the Monte Desert boasts unique crested and sandy gallitos, endemic Steinbach's canastero, and cinnamon warbling-finch. On the other side of the Andes from Mendoza lies Chile's Maipo Valley, famed for its Cabernet Sauvignons and Carméneres. Wind through the verdant landscapes of Chile to sample its distinctive wines and indulge your inner naturalist. Don't miss the vineyards of Concha y Toro, producing some of the New World's best Cabernet Sauvignon. Explore its mythic Casillero del Diablo, or Devil's Cellar. Legend has it that a former landlord started the rumor that the devil himself was seen there, thus salvaging his personal wine inventory from theft and creating one of the most powerful legends in the wine world. Take in Chile's Colchagua Valley. Its name is from the native Mapuche word, colcahuala -- "nesting place of the sacred Huala bird." Nestled here are premium wine properties ripe for exploring and tasting. At Altos de Lircay Nature Reserve, be on the lookout for woodland birds such as owl, woodpecker and hawk species, plus white-throated treerunner and the quasiendemic chestnut-throated huet-huet. Further south, a trip to Patagonia will leave no doubt as to why it's one of the prime spots in the world for whale watching, hiking and horseback riding. This region is teeming with natural splendor -- in lush landscapes, along coasts and desert, and in a protected breeding colony of Humboldt penguins. Sophisticated Buenos Aires and Santiago round out the journey.

Half-time activities will benefit cystic fibrosis research when members of the Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds varsity and junior varsity basketball teams will face off against the Maple Grove Lady Red Dragons on Friday, February 3, with games at 6 and 7:30 p.m. in the CLCS Competition Gym. Team members researched the chronic disease, which touched a local family last year. The Thunderbird Athletic Club will conduct a raffle and 50/50 drawing, while student athletes and their families hold a bake sale and half-time games. Proceeds will support the search for a cure to cystic fibrosis, a genetic lung disorder that affects the pancreas and other organs, as well as providing information on how to treat and live with this chronic disease. Sporting shirts announcing the event are coach Bill Persons (left) and Lady Thunderbirds.

AUTO TIPS AND TRICKS 27

Buying a New Car: When's the Best Time?

Contributed Content AutoTrader.com

When you're buying a new car, haggling for the bestpossible deal is an excellent way to ensure you'll get a good price on a vehicle you're considering. But while some shoppers believe haggling is the only way to get a good deal on a new car, there's also another important item that car-shoppers too often fail to consider: timing. Just like in life, timing is everything in car-buying -- and buying a car at the right time can often mean saving thousands of dollars. But when is the right time to buy? And how do you use timing to your advantage to get a great car deal? Here are a few timing tips that will help you secure the best-possible price for your next vehicle. End of the... You've probably heard that you can get a better deal on a car if you buy it at the end of the month -- and that's true. But it's not just the end of the month: You can usually swing a better car deal by buying your vehicle at the end of just about any period. For example, buying a car at the end of a day can sometimes yield better deals, as dealership employees are often ready to go home and not as willing to dig in their heels and negotiate for a long time over a car deal. If you show up rested and refreshed at the end of the day, you might find a slightly better deal than you'd get if you arrive bright and early on a Saturday morning.

This could be your ad!

Call Sue at

366-9200 ext.1006 for details.

Of course, buying at the end of the month is also always a good idea, as car dealers work hard to meet monthly sales quotas. In some cases, salespeople have financial bonuses assigned to their monthly sales quota -- which means they're willing to lose money on a car or two at the end of the month in order to make even more money by reaching their bonus. And then there's another end period you could use to your advantage: the end of the quarter. Buying a car at the end of the month in March, June, September or December often leads to even better deals than buying at the end of the month, as dealerships are trying even harder to reach even loftier goals. Last Year's Model Another way to use timing to your advantage when buying a new car is by getting a vehicle from the previous model year. New-model-year vehicles will start to come out in the fall of the previous year -- for example, a 2018 model will debut in the fall of 2017 -- and dealerships usually want last year's stock gone before the new model arrives. But that doesn't always work out, and if a 2017 model is still on the lot when

a 2018 model arrives, dealerships will usually offer heavy discounts on the older model in order to sell it. Of course, there could be a drawback to this: If you buy last year's model, and the new version is substantially changed or updated with a new look or new features, you won't have the latest and greatest in technology or design. For some shoppers, that's a deal-breaker, but other drivers who just want the best price probably won't mind. Holiday Weekends Our last piece of timing-related car-buying advice: Shop during holiday weekends, such as Labor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day or Thanksgiving. You'll often see or hear car dealerships advertising huge deals or blowout sales during holiday weekends, and those ads are almost always accurate. Automakers often put out special financing or cash-back deals for holiday weekends, and dealers sometimes add on to those deals with special offers of their own. While you might not want to spend your holiday weekend signing the papers on a new car, doing so could help you save thousands of dollars.
