Executive Summary In order to achieve our vision of a Christian university nationally recognized for Integrating Faith in Learning, Leading and Serving, and in accordance with our strategic transformation plan, Charleston Southern University is embarking on a multiyear, $40 million comprehensive campaign designed to transform the University and the lives of all it touches: • Transform campus culture through new and enhanced faith integration initiatives • Transform student enrollment both quantitatively and qualitatively • Transform the ways we instruct, assemble and communicate • Transform our role as a community center of faith-based education, culture and civic involvement • Transform the CSU student-athlete experience academically, athletically and spiritually • Transform our ability to give back significantly to our local community, region and the larger world The campaign will allow the University, now at full capacity, to grow with new facilities and resources devoted to academic improvement, enrichment, scholarships and endowments. It will benefit every field of academic study, every student and faculty member, while focusing on several critical strategic priorities: The Christian Leadership Building: The new academic center of campus. This 26,500-square-foot facility signifies the University’s commitment to faith integration. It will be the home of the Center for Christian Leadership, with state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls and conference/seminar facilities designed to enhance our focus on faith integration and Christian Worldview development on campus and in the greater community. $6,500,000 The Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing: This world-class and vital program is expanding rapidly to meet truly critical local, regional and national needs for highly trained Christian nurse leaders.To accommodate tripled enrollment by 2014, additional physical space, faculty, staff, equipment and scholarships are required. $5,000,000 CSU Athletics: A new 26,000-square-foot Athletic Complex to be constructed north of the football field, along with a number of other facility and program improvements, will vastly improve the student-athlete experience and enable the University to remain competitive, both academically and athletically, in NCAA Division I and the Big South Conference. $11,500,000 Unrestricted and Named Scholarships: Dramatically increasing both merit and need-based scholarships will enable us to compete for, attract and retain students of the highest caliber, who will become Christian leaders in our changing world. $13,000,000 Academic Enhancement: Endowed chairs in specific academic departments will enable us to attract faculty of the highest quality with a calling to share knowledge in the context of Christian faith. Of equal importance are endowments for a variety of academic program enhancements focused on faculty development, global education, research and activities in the Center for Christian Leadership. $4,000,000
