Dear friends and donors,

Monthly Report

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs have finally registered in the state of Illinois in United States by the group of the Serbian youth. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is currently in the process of applying for a 501(c)3 non-profit organization status. We registered organization in Jun 2010 and we have already started working and began raising donations. Since this is our fresh start in the United States please excuse us for any difficulties and mistakes that we make in the beginning.

About Us The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Americans, Serbs and their friends through planned projects, social and humanitarian activities in order to develop and foster better society for future generations and provide aid for underprivileged families in need. Although there are many humanitarian organizations and associations, help often doesn't reach the most jeopardized. Due to unnecessary administration, missing information and slow decision making, the delivery of aid arrives too late to the final consumers, or not at all. It is a sad and embarrassing, but true fact that more than 18.000 children daily die around the world because of starvation and malnutrition. There, among us, the blind and deaf. We are witnesses of the bad demographic situation of our nation, decreasing natality, increasing number of singles, abortions, accelerated aging of the population and generally bad economic condition of the households in Serbia, Republic of Srpska and Montenegro and other countries in the Balkan.

An average couple has "fallen" on one child. Analysts warn that Serbs will become a minority in its own country in the following century if the nation, individuals and government don't wake up from the nescient in which they've fallen! On the other hand, nobody is talking about the families with many children which grieve by living in bitter poverty. Occupied by their everyday struggle for survival, they are being humbly in their desire for implementing rights which belong to them. Their life stories, fears and problems are identical, but almost invisible and unheard in order to gain the attention of the public, media and even state. That's why the idea of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs arose. Organization was formed by a group of young and trustful people, who are united by the common vision of helping families blessed by many children and who are aware of the fact that even a small help means a lot for those who don't live in a material excess. We are united by the humane idea to help the poorest part of the Serbian nation. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs try to revive the spiritless energy of the Serbian Diaspora which would be able to reinforce people of Serbian heritage as well as all good people throughout the world with minimal, but constant monthly donations. We hope and believe that there is also a grain of doing good and that you will join us in the endless struggle against poverty. God bless and save all Serbian families with many children and our honored donors who participate in the noble effort to return smile on children faces. and raising their own family - our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families - our organization is satisfied with the results - family is ready in the future to become our donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help

The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations.

Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid.

Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty.

Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.

How do we define “terrible poverty? Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living.

Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from social-dependable government programs. Indirectly, we want to affect on birth rate of Serbian people that has been in great decline in last 20 years.

What are our long term goals? - family is ready to support itself daily and manage to pay all required expenses and bills - their children are encouraged to continue with school

Our organization will try to provide the resources for a parcel

300m2.

The ultimate goal of these actions is to secure the displaced families and to help them provide the conditions to have an independent life. We think that buying the parcel would be a good ground for a new start. Also, the occasional help is not enough, so we must ensure a permanent solution for the families to be motivated to work instead waiting for the charity.

We paid another visit to the Milić family originating from Kosovo and Metohija, and now settled in the suburbs of Podgorica, in Vrela Ribnička, a refugee camp. The father of the family, Miladin, came back after the recovery and a treatment due to his asthma problems. We delivered the help provided by the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs from Switzerland, but we also used the opportunity to talk to them about

the

possible

long-term

solution.

One of the suggestions we made considered moving the family to Old Raška or Vojvodina, where we would provide them a house and some basic conditions to commence an independent life. However, they are more interested in staying in Montenegro, where they roots are, so we decided to help them find a parcel in order to build a house with the help of UNHCR and the company where Miladin was employed. Miladin is aware of the fact that he can no longer perform jobs in his old company, but he is willing to grow animals in order to feed his family. Of course, his children would be of immense

help.

A parcel could be bought in some of the villages between Podgorica and Danilovgrad, where they would be near the family

daughter.

When we first found out about the difficult situation of the single mother and her three children 3 years ago, we couldn't assume that we won't need much money to help them solve their problems. Ranka Ćodo remained a widow, paying a rent in a weekend cottage. Her daughter Milica found her father dead, so she had to start visiting a psychologist due to a trauma. The twins Marko and Miloš have just started going to school. The mother is a person with limited capabilities, and she couldn't pay the rent any more. After that they moved to a partly

rats.

Our first step consisted in animating the state and local services in order to find the family a suitable accommodation. They had the status of refugee and displaced persons, so the state was willing to pay them the rent up to 200 KM. We just

problems. In cooperation with the Center for social services we found a little flat at a retiree, so we managed to solve his problem as well. We moved the family and organized various actions to gather money and material help (clothes, furniture). Ranka had her retirement and child benefit, so they had decent conditions.

We visited the family from time to time and gave Ranka advices. We managed to initiate the question of the property of their family in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to sell the estate and permanently resolve their housing problem. We also frequently visited local services and asked for

She bought the paint and managed to repair all the damages in the apartment. Milica and Ranka cleaned everything. The children and an old couple (new neighbors) helped in moving the family. During the process, we found out that the Ministry decreased the compensation for the rent, so Ranka and her children were only months away from the return in the barrack. Milica now has her own bedroom for the first time, and Miloš and Marko don't have to sleep in the same bed anymore. The rooms are nice and alight. A two-room flat is more than they hoped

for.

A terrible period is over. They have enough to live. We will be there for them, and we can only hope that we will be able to settle

After we brought food, we used the opportunity to talk with the father of the family, Saša, about his plans to grow animals and farming, which could help the family to build a safer future for their children.

dinars to provide the property certificate to the family. With the help of the journalist of Politika and TV Bačka Petko Koprivica, the procedure should be finished within the next 10

days.

That was just a small step towards the permanent independence of this family to get the normal conditions for a modest life. Unfortunately, the numerous visits of the representatives of political parties and the promises of the municipality officials didn't help. Our organization uses this opportunity to help the family provide some necessities – build the toilet, build the barn and grow the plants. Report: Dobrina Kusmuk, Republic of Srpska / ACCOUNTS /

Christmas was last time we bought food for family Mihic , then we promised that we will be back for Easter. We wanted to visit and buy basic food they need. Marina and I talk few days ago and made a list of food.
