THE TREASURER CHEST updates for club treasurers

Porter's Pointers a friendly advice column

In what ways can we incorporate, motivate, and prepare our treasurer elects before their term? It is important that we bring out new lovely treasures up to speed, So I suggest that you make a small 'how to' guide for fundraisers you've done this year. Think of it as a starter kit; including your Key Club Be the Treasurer guide, a document that has a list of fundraisers and how to prepare, and a guide to the MUC and how to pay dues (including the account info and possible transfer of the club treasurer email account if you have one). You can have your elects start coming to board meetings and giving them small tasks like checking the account balance or creating a mock fundraiser (or a real one!). Your job right now is to inspire the elect to learn from your mistakes and improve on the success you've had this year being a treasurer! I've been fundraising all year, but haven't sent any of the money to its respective cause, help?! Lucky for you, we have a guide for turning in this money! So total all your funds up and see this booklet for more info: https://issuu.com/charissanguyen/docs/thekeytodonating manual

Membership Incentives Although the term is coming to a close, it is not too late to submit members into MUC! By doing so, we can reach our District Goal of 2,600 paid members. You might be wondering, why would we put in members so late and how will I convince them? Well, have a bunch of service events planned out to attract more members and inform them that in order for them to officially be logged, they have to be paid members. Also, host an event or two. This will make them want to join and go!

50/51 Clubs are officially paid!

Fundraising Ideas to conclude the term with a bang!

Easter Bake Sale Spring time is here and so are baked goods! You could make Easter egg cookies or colorful cupcakes to attract customers in the mood for something festive. Make sure that if you're fundraising for DCON, you don't mislead customers by saying that you're raising money for charity!

Board Auctions The time for board elections is coming, so why not celebrate by auctioning off your board members? You can reminisce on the past and auction off the immediate past board members or celebrate the future by auctioning off the new board members for a fun one on one date!

Ice Cream Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me? With Springtime coming along, it's been pretty warm here in California. Why not take advantage of this warm, spring air and sell ice cream at your school? Ask your administration about their policies with selling food on campus during school hours.

Easter Egg Hunt Just cause you're in high school, doesn't mean you can't still participate in Easter egg hunts! Coordinate an Easter egg hunt with participants from your school and charge them for an entrance fee. There can be lots of eggs with candy, and one egg with a mystery cash prize! Be creative and have fun with it!

Role of the Club Treasurer MUC

Continue submitting dues! You can add new members anytime throughout the year. Let's reach our goal of 2,600 Members by DCON

Communicate with your club president and secretary with all things DCON! Make sure that your transportation costs and your hotel costs are covered

Fundraise! It's always good to have money saved for your club in case of emergency. You can use this money for your DCON Costumes, Stop Hunger Now, or even for a larger fundraiser

Train your successor. The key to a successful term is being prepared. Make sure that you teach your next treasurer as much as you can so that they are ready to go into the next term blazing!
