STONEMAN

Assistant CoachFirst Year

Rich Stoneman is in his first season as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Coastal Carolinla University, working with all aspects of the program as well as the goalkeepers. Stoneman has spent the past three seasons at East Carolina University, where he was the assistant coach in charge of goalkeepers. During his time with the Pirates, the squad went 3216-12 and 14-9-8 in Conference-USA, including the 2008 regular season title and a run to the league tournament finals. During his tenure, he coached goalkeeperAmber Campbell, who was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-Southeast Region and First Team All-Conference selection in 2008. He also worked with defender Madison Keller, who spent part of the 2009 season with the Washington Freedom of the Women’s Professional Soccer League. In his time at ECU, the combined goalsagainst average was less than a goal a game in the 60 contests. Prior to his time at ECU, Stoneman spent three years at Louisiana Tech as an assistant coach. While at Louisiana Tech, Stoneman helped the program achieve national rankings of third in scoring offense and 17th in shutout percentage. In addition, he was responsible for recruiting Emily Cleaveland, the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Freshman-of-the-Year in 2005, and coordinating all aspects of Louisiana Tech’s recruiting efforts. Prior to Louisiana Tech, Stoneman served as assistant coach at Eastern New Mexico University for both the men’s and women’s teams. There, he actively oversaw all aspects of recruiting Eastern New Mexico’s initial team. Before his stint at Eastern New Mexico, Stoneman spent a year coaching the Dallas Texans Club Team and the Olympic Development Teams. In 200102, he joined the Baylor women’s soccer program and further broadened

his experience under Head Coach Nick Cowell. At Baylor, Stoneman was in charge of scouting, video analysis, enhancing the Bears’ recruiting base and practice sessions. He worked closely with and coached Mexican National Team goalkeeper Monica Housden. Stoneman enjoyed a successful playing career at Oklahoma Christian University from 1996-98, where he led the team to two Sooner Athletic Conference titles. He also played with the Oklahoma City Slickers and OKC Spirit of the USISL. Stoneman was then selected by Dallas FC (the then-Dallas Burn) on account of his participation in the MLS Combine and subsequently took a spot on the Kansas City Wizards reserve team. Stoneman holds impressive credentials, such as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Level II Goalkeeping Diploma, an Advanced National Diploma, a National B License from the United States Soccer Federation, a National A License from the USSF, an English F.A. Premier Badge and a NSCAA International Diploma. He also participated in an internship for U.S. Soccer, observing training camps and sessions for the United States National Teams. Stoneman received a B.S. in health and recreation from East Central University in 2001.

VANDENBERGH Assistant CoachFirst Year

Lydia Vandenbergh joins the Chanticleers Soccer staff after spending this past year as a member of the Chicago Red Stars in its second season in the Women’s Professional Soccer league. Vandenbergh spent 2009-10 season as an assistant coach at Western Carolina University under head coach Tammy DeCesare. In 2008-2009, Vandenbergh joined the Florida State soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach after spending time as both a player and a coach. Vandenbergh brought valuable experience to Tallahassee spending four years as a student-athlete at Clemson University

and nine years of playing experience in the W-League with the Asheville Splash (200004) and the Charlotte Eagles (2005-08). Vandenbergh served two years (2006-07) as a coach for Matthews Soccer Club in Charlotte, N.C. She acted as co-director of Revelations Soccer in 2007, while working as an assistant coach at Charlotte Christian High School in 2008. From 2005 to 2008, Vandenbergh coached several camps and clinics affiliated with the Charlotte Eagles both in the United States and overseas in Singapore, Thailand and Brazil. In W-League action, Vandenbergh was a member of the 2006 Charlotte Eagles’ squad that advanced to the league semifinals. Playing with the Eagles, Vandenbergh was named to the W-League Team of the Week during week 10 of the season in 2008. She also spent two years in Brazil playing on the professional circuit. In 2006, Vandenbergh was a member of Santos Futebol Clube in Santos, Sao Paulo, while playing a year for Cotia Futsal Clube in Cotia, Sao Paulo in 2007. At Clemson, Vandenbergh was a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. She participated in the NCAA Tournament in each of her four seasons while leading the Tigers to three straight years of finishing the season ranked in the top 25 including a high of 14th in 2002. Vandenbergh appeared in 80 games over her career making 65 starts. She ended her college career starting 60 consecutive matches for the Tigers, a streak dating back to the beginning of her sophomore campaign in 2003. Vandenbergh tallied 24 points on five goals and 14 assists over her four-year college career. Thirty-three percent of her career points resulted in game-winners for the Tigers as she posted one game-winning goal and six game-winning assists. As a freshman, Vandenbergh guided Clemson to the 2002 ACC Championship game notching the game-winning assist in a 2-0 semifinal victory over Duke. Her first career point came at home against North Carolina assisting on a first half goal by Deliah Arrington. She closed out her senior season with being named team Most Valuable Player. She graduated from Clemson University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
