The Newsletter from The Farmer’s Champion Welcome to the 58th edition of the Chandlers Bugle t is with great pleasure that I am able to report that AGCO have awarded Chandlers (Farm Equipment) Ltd. with the Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Challenger franchises for the Lutterworth territory. We are presently full steam ahead with fitting out our new 10,000 sq. ft. premises at Arkwright Hill Ind. Park, Lutterworth Road, (A426) Cosby, Leicestershire, which will be complete by the end of January 2013. Plans are in the pipeline for an official opening and we will be sending invitations and advertising the event shortly. We are looking forward to meeting and serving the farming community in the area and introducing our new team, several of whom will be already known to many in the locality. AGCO’s massive investment in product development has seen new model launches in all three brands we represent. Challenger have introduced the new 700 D-series tracked tractors which are powered by the Sisu engine giving increased output, greater economy, and improved emissions which meet Euro tier 3B regulations. They use AGCO’s SCR technology which has proved so successful and fuel efficient in the Fendt and Massey Ferguson tractors. Other improvements include reduced in-cab noise levels, and a smoother transmission due to more refined synchromesh components. Fendt have released the 500 series range with four models 512, 513, 514 & 516, using four cylinder engines up to 165hp again with SCR technology and fitted with industry leading cabs similar to the Fendt 700 SCR series tractors.

Massey Ferguson will unveil the new range of MF5600 tractors at Lamma, 80, 90 and 110 hp, 5608, 5609 and 5610 models which are all tier 3B compliant and have larger cabs similar to those fitted to the Massey Ferguson 7600 series. The Beta five and six straw walker combines are also further improved with the brand new Skyline cab including Fendt type controls for smooth operation and touch screen for ease of use and Para-level full combine auto level system which allows a narrow transport width. Kubota have also been busy developing new tractors, extending their M series range with four new models, which are 85hp, 100hp, 110hp & 135hp, all have four cylinder common rail engines, Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) making them Euro Stage 3B compliant. Both the M110GX and the M135GX have Four Post Cabs giving excellent visibility and also both have Kubota’s unique Bi-Speed Turn feature for good manoeuvrability in confined spaces. The press consolidates the freshly ploughed land to break clods and conserve moisture. It turns over with the plough, is transported on the plough, and can be folded close to the plough to allow ploughing up to the field boundary. It even adjusts its working width automatically when mounted on a hydraulic vari-width plough. Available to fit certain 4-6 furrow Juwel ploughs, the 5 furrow model uses 20 x 600mm diameter rings. Earlier this year, James Lacey of L and D Flowers, of Pinchbeck took delivery of a Kubota M6040, 64 H.P Tractor, C/W R.O.PS frame, and quick attach, Kubota LA1153 front loader. This is currently the largest tractor that Kubota produce for the U.K market, that has a rollbar, making the tractor accessable for glasshouses, and poly tunnels. L and D Flowers crop 165 hectares of outdoor cut flowers, mainly Sunflowers and Gladioli, and 12,000 square metres of glasshouses and poly tunnels. James explained that one of the reasons he purchased the Kubota, was the fact it had a rollbar, making it easier to get in the poly tunnels, and when the loader is fitted, the forward and reverse clutchless shuttle, is easy to use when filling hoppers with peat, with the front loader, and the fact that we can set the wheel centres of the tractor to 1.5 metres, for bed work and inter row cultivation.
