RYAN CUTLER DIVING COACH FIRST SEASON Ryan is in his first season as diving coach at the Coast Guard Academy after serving as the diving coach at Newtown High school in Connecticut for the past three seasons. He is a 2010 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where he was a diver for the Owls and named the Most Improved Diver following his junior season. Ryan earned a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. Cutler, who was a four-sport athlete (football, baseball, track and swimming) at nearby Fitch High School, has coached swimming and diving at many YMCA’s and clubs throughout Connecticut over the past several years and is a certified coach by USA swimming.

KEN NIEDZWIECKI ATHLETIC TRAINER

Ken joined the Athletic Training staff in 2000 and was named the head athletic trainer in 2001. As the Head Athletic Trainer, Ken oversees the day to day operations of the Athletic Training Facility, and coordinates Sports Medicine Staff coverage for the NCAA varsity sports teams, HPE run Physical Fitness Exam’s (PFE’s) and Swab Summer Training Programs. Over the years, Ken worked at several high schools and sports medicine clinics in Connecticut. He spent four years a the head athletic trainer with the Connecticut Pride of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). On two separate occasions, Ken was honored as one of two athletic trainers invited to provide services for the “CBA Players Showcase Camp”. The camp allowed top CBA players the opportunity to market their basketball skills for NBA coaches and scouts in attendance. After graduating from Farmington High School in Farmington, Conn. in 1984, Ken later attended Springfield College in Massachusetts. While at Springfield, Ken was the team student athletic trainer. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training in 1991, Ken worked full-time as an employee of Valley Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, in East Hampton, CT., providing clinical rehabilitation and sports medicine services at East Hampton High School and other local schools.
