Of Mice and Men Sun / Apr 28 / 4 pm $20, $32, $40 ET This leading American touring company brings the literary masterpiece Of Mice and Men to the stage for a memorable theatrical experience. Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winner John Steinbeck’s tragic tale tells of two drifting migrant workers in California during the Great Depression: George, a smart yet cynical man, and Lennie, a gentle giant with the mind of a child. Lifelong friends who are devoted to each other, they nurture a hopeless dream of someday saving enough money to buy a farm. This deeply moving work explores themes of loneliness and companionship, the imbalance of power and victimization, and most of all, the impossibility of the American dream. Hailed as “the major touring classical theater company in the United States,” by The New York Times, this legendary ensemble was founded by John Houseman and Margot Harley in 1972 and has helped launch the careers of many well-known actors.

The sight of large male bodies stuffed into tutus delicately balancing en pointe is just the beginning of the fun. This all-male ballet company specializes in hilarious twists on the classics such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and Giselle, with equal parts comedy and technical prowess. The talented dancers, playing both male and female roles, perform an impressive repertoire of both classical ballet and contemporary dance. They are poking fun, but they are doing so with excellent form and skill, making this a delight for dance aficionados and novices alike. Starting in 1974 as a playful diversion for some passionate ballet enthusiasts in New York, “The Trocks” quickly caught on, and became a worldwide phenomenon. Audiences can’t get enough of their graceful movement, hilarious wit, frilly tutus and man-sized toe shoes as they gain popularity and consistently attract new audiences across the globe. “Their program of grand ballet is as much food for the mind as it is for the eye and the funny bone.” (The New York Times)
