Fayette Campus Students Who Receive Financial Aid

About CMU High school students often ask, “How is CMU different from other institutions?” We love that question. At CMU, you will learn from talented and caring faculty members that year after year score above their peers at other institutions for student engagement. You will develop relationships with your professors and they will know you – not just your name – they will know YOU. Plan on having immediate access to their talent and their wisdom. Our alumni will gladly verify that for you! Your opportunities to join social and academic organizations are limited only by your time and energy. You can play collegiate sports, perform in a play, sing in a choir, play in a band, join an awardwinning presentation team, get involved with spiritual life on campus, serve your community, play intramural sports, AND participate in student government.

FOCUSED ON YOUR FUTURE Join a diverse university of extraordinary people who excel at just about everything. With a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 12-to-1, you will thrive with close mentoring that students simply can’t get at a large, public institution. Professors and staff go the extra mile to connect students with research, internships, and career networks. Our Career Development Center is squarely focused on internships, career placement, and opportunities. Central Methodist’s job and graduate school placement rate is supported by not only your qualifications and work ethic, but the strong faculty recommendations we have here, coupled with alumni and corporate leaders who recognize the value of hiring a CMU graduate.

“The Career Development team provided me with the tools and resources to build my resume with valuable experiences. With their coaching, I felt like I was qualified for any position in my field. I know that the Career Development Center will always be available to answer a question or provide feedback on my cover letter even as an alum.” Jamison Lane Ball | Class of 2020

ONE-ON-ONE FACULTY ENGAGEMENT Central professors challenge, encourage, and develop students. Our level of faculty engagement with students is well-documented in the annual National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), where CMU consistently outranks its peers in the areas of Collaborative Learning and Student-Faculty Interaction. With an average class size of 12 students and full-time faculty teaching major courses, students receive the one-on-one attention they desire, and develop relationships that make the difference in both an academic experience and a career. Freshmen are taught by talented, tenured faculty who are passionate about student success. They go far beyond the classroom, working with students on individual projects, advising, helping with campus organizations, and volunteering in the community.

“I absolutely love the faculty-student relationship that CMU provides. My professors were there for me inside and outside of the classroom, ready to answer any questions I had. The staff at Central were always friendly, personable and ready to help. When I graduated and moved away, I felt like I left part of my family behind.” Catie Dovin Dudley | Class of 2019

“The soccer program has been a success on and off the field. We accomplished the goal of two national championships in two years, and our dreams came true. Win after win and trophy after trophy, we all realized that our biggest victory has been the relationships and team spirit that we created, and that we will never forget. Playing soccer with the Eagles helped me to realize my dreams and live an unforgettable experience.” Alberto Pangrazzi | Class of 2020

PLAY. PERFORM. YOU CAN SHINE AT CMU

Ready for the next level? Check out Central’s Fine and Performing Arts majors: Instrumental Music – A bachelor’s degree in Music Education with certification in instrumental music will prepare you to be a music teacher. CMU’s dynamic band opportunities will provide you with the variety of experiences you need. Vocal Music – A Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance can take you right to the top. There is no shortage of performance opportunities at Central Methodist, where you will take the stage in your first year with Chorale, or perhaps the Conservatory Singers. Music Ministry – A Bachelor of Music in Music Ministry puts you on the path to working as a worship leader. Our Praise/Worship Band opportunities are something you won’t want to miss. We combine academics and performance to create personalized success for you!

“Thanks to my involvement with CMU’s opera program, I made friends from many cultures and backgrounds, witnessed profound growth in my singing abilities both as a soloist and ensemble member, and was introduced to so many varieties of musical repertoire. I highly recommend taking that leap of faith and joining opera at CMU.” Keaton Denney | Class of 2020

UNLOCK THE POWER OF DIGITAL U

AT AN APPLE DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL

We don’t just give out iPads at Central Methodist. We integrate your digital life into the classroom through special apps, digital coursework, and money-saving e-books. And just this year, Central was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, validating our innovation in and out of the classroom Whether it is reading music, creating in the Makerspace, exploring nursing’s Anatomage “virtual dissection” table, or business course spreadsheets, you will learn the way you live – digitally. And after you walk on graduation day, the iPad is yours to keep!

“In my time in the nursing program, I was fortunate enough to be given an iPad through the Digital U program. These iPads were great for hands-on learners, like myself. They made it easy to take notes and snap pictures of any important topics during lectures. These iPads also helped our simulations mimic real-life hospital scenarios and documents, which prepared me for my career! Overall, DigitalU made it easier, faster, and more convenient to study!” Kaylee Schafer | Class of 2020

OFF CAMPUS Intramurals, engaging campus speakers, and sporting events fill your calendar, but to add to your options, the amenities of Columbia, Mo. are just 25 minutes from campus. Central Methodist students head there occasionally for movies and entertainment. The trip is shorter than most commutes within St. Louis, Kansas City, or even Springfield.

CAMPUS SAFETY Central Methodist University’s commitment to student safety has always been strong, but never has there been more visible evidence of that commitment. While we have a commitment to campus security and emergency response, the institution reached new heights during the pandemic, testing all students, staff, and faculty for COVID-19, and on multiple occasions if there is a possible exposure. New facial recognition scanners were installed in strategic locations around campus, as well as ionization air cleaners. New cleaning crews were hired as well.

Seeing students and staff become more receptive of the message that the African American Student Union is trying to spread has been wonderful. To me AASU is an organization that can bridge the gap between people of all backgrounds on campus. Even if we all don’t see eye to eye on every issue, we can learn to respect each other’s opinions and ways of life. Nehemiah Colyer | Class of 2021
