Jim Grassi Speaking time: 2:00pm-2:28pm The importance of developing great character. Dr. James (Jim) Grassi is an award winning author, communicator, outdoorsman, former pastor, and television co-host. Jim has presented hundreds of messages and programs around the world that helped equip people to fulfill The Great Commission (Matt. 28). He brings a sense of challenge, wisdom, excitement, and humor to his presentations as he connects with people of various cultures and backgrounds.
Jim’s primary work is leading one of most experienced men’s ministries in the country – Men’s Ministry Catalyst, an organization he incorporated in 1981. Contrary to his prejudices, Dan discovered that computers were about more than math, and he quickly took to the quirky machines. Thirty years later, Mr. Gookin has written over 150 books about computers and hosts several online training videos at Lynda, a division of LinkedIn. He has achieved fame as one of the first computer radio talk show hosts, the editor of a computer magazine, and a national technology spokesman. He is perhaps most famously known as the author of DOS For Dummies, the foundation of the hugely successful ‘For Dummies’ series. Dan considers himself a writer and technology guru whose job it is to remind everyone that high-tech gizmos are not to be taken too seriously. Coeur d’Auteur Authors Mike Blackbird Mike Blackbird, a Kellogg native, and 1960 Kellogg Senior High graduate, attended California State University after a four year hitch in the Navy. Mike graduated with a degree in history and political science. He retired in 2009, as regional sales manager for Cardinal Health in Seattle. He also served three terms in the Idaho State Senate, 1986-1992. Mike married Florence in 1964 and they reside in Post Falls. They have two adult children and one grandchild. Mike’s book, One Flaming Hour, a memoir of his brother Jerry, has been nominated for the Idaho Library Association 2014 book award.

Richard Brown Richard has been putting together his own leadership puzzle for his entire adult life. That includes his college years, rarely included in anyone’s definition of adult. As a midshipman enrolled on a full scholarship in the Naval ROTC program at Oregon State University, he was one of two selected to serve in a midshipman officer position as a junior. In his senior year, he was appointed as Midshipman Battalion Commander, the highest leadership position available to a student. Named the USMC Honor Graduate, he served his active duty as an infantry officer with the 1st Marine Brigade in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Prior to leaving the Corps Richard was selected ahead of his peers for promotion to Captain. In 1978, he began a thirty year career in sales with Pfizer Inc. Four years later he was one of the youngest individuals at the time promoted to District Manager. In 2001, Richard returned to the field to apply his experience to the most challenging type of leadership, leading his peers. Richard helped found PRE, or Professional Resource Enhancement, in 1998 as a means of bringing his unique vision of leadership to small business, coaches, teachers and young adults. Richard is now a certified speaker, coach and trainer with John Maxwell. In 2012, Richard published the book Become THE LEADER Your PEOPLE DESERVE. Richard lives with his wife Beth in Post Falls, Idaho. They have 3 grown children.

Chris Carlson Kellogg native Chris Carlson is a former journalist and school teacher and was the long-time press secretary for four-term Idaho Governor Cecil D. Andrus. He attended Columbia on a scholarship and graduated in 1968 with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Comparative Religions. Chris received an M.A. from Idaho State University in 1970. In 1971 he worked as the Washington D.C. correspondent for the Anchorage Daily News and wrote a political column carried by five Idaho newspapers. In January of 1973, he began his long and still active association with Andrus. Chris returned to D.C. with Andrus in 1977, as director of the Interior Department’s Office of Public Affairs when Andrus served as Interior Secretary under Jimmy Carter. In 1981 he was appointed to the Northwest Power Planning Council by Governor John V. Evans. He became the regional vice president for government affairs for Kaiser Aluminum in 1983 and then founded the consulting firm of Gallatin Public Affairs in 1989. Today it is the Pacific Northwest’s largest independent strategic communications firm with offices in Spokane, Seattle, Portland, and Boise. Two life-threatening health challenges forced him to take a disability retirement in 2006. Though given only six months to live in November of 2005, he has confounded his doctors and as he says with a smile, “I’m still here.” During his “retirement” he resumed writing his weekly column on Idaho politics and has written and had published three books: Cecil Andrus: Idaho’s Greatest Governor (Caxton, 2011); Medimont Reflections (Ridenbaugh, 2013); and Eye on the Caribou (Ridenbaugh, 2015). He and his wife were married in 1970 in St. Maries. They have four now adult children and two grandchildren and reside on Cave Lake near Medimont.
Jack Castle Bestselling Author Jack Castle loves adventure. Sherrie Jenicek Sherrie Jenicek grew up in a little mining town nestled among the mountains of northern Idaho. A little goose changed the life of Carol Muzik when she decided to leave a long nursing career to create an art gallery in Harrison, Idaho, in 2005. Because of her unusual photography of an orphaned goose she and her husband raised to its successful return to the wild, she often shared the goose’s story with curious customers. People often said, “You should write a book!”, so, not one to ignore good advice, Carol dove into video and book production to tell Lucy’s story. Now, numerous awards and several books later, Muzik writes, illustrates, and consults with clients on the self-publishing process. She is the author and illustrator of her true story written for ages 5 – 9 called Raising Lucy ~ The True Story of Raising an Orphaned Wild Goose, and its accompanying video and coloring book. Sherri Schettler Sherri Schettler, former resident of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, is the author of Spiritual Blackmail: My Journey Through a Catholic Cult, a finalist in the 2015 Nancy Pearl Book Contest. Schettler’s memoir includes the nine years she lived in Coeur d’ Alene in the 70’s and 80’s when she was involved with a renegade traditionalist group and its charismatic, abusive leader from Seattle, a man who refused to go along with the reforms of Vatican Two.
