“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2

How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:33-36

Theme As we return back from our retreat in mortifying our sin – we are called to continuously live a life of sanctification. The term sanctification refers to our continual work in becoming more like Jesus. More of Him and less of us. A quote that should now be familiar to us is, “God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus.”

Summary and Goal Jesus lived the life that we couldn’t live, and paid the price that was originally ours. We are judicially regarded by God as righteous and innocent because of Christ. It is crucial to understand that we are justified solely by Christ’s redemptive work on the cross. Though our sins have been paid in full and now we can have access to a perfect relationship with God through Christ, we are called to be like Christ, resembling His character and putting the deeds of the flesh to death. This means learning to love the things that God loves and also hating the very own things that God opposes. Slowly yet surely, God is changing our hunger from sin onto an appetite for the things that please Him.

Please join us for lunch and fellowship at the Vision Center. And now, we have hope in the fact that our lives truly are changing, because God refuses to leave us in the same condition in which we first approached him, along with our baggage, burdens, and sins.
