CCI’s Short-Term Programs
Each year hundreds of participants come on CCI’s short-term exchange programs, from 2 to 8 weeks. Hosting a short-term participant is a great way to get a taste of the host family experience. Group Homestay Program On a group program your exchange student arrives with other students who will also be hosted in your community. Generally group programs include some activities organized by a CCI Local Coordinator (LC), and may also include English classes and/or high school visits. Your LC will provide you with information specific to the group, including nationality of students, dates, and program calendar. Generally group students are 13 – 18 years old. Independent Homestay Program On CCI’s Independent Homestay Program (IHP) your exchange participant arrives by him or herself. There are no organized activities on this program; the participant simply joins your family in everyday activities and does personal sightseeing. Some IHPs choose to participate in a volunteer project (part of CCI’s environmental and humanitarian initiative called Greenheart). Participants on this program are ages 15 – adult. Ready for More? CCI: The Greenheart of Cultural Exchange Established in 1985, the Center for Cultural Interchange (CCI) is a non-profit international education exchange organization dedicated to the promotion of cultural understanding, academic development, environmental consciousness and world peace. Greenheart is CCI’s environmental and social initiative. CCI is designated by the United States Department of State as a J-1 Exchange Visitor Program Sponsor for the Secondary School, Intern and Trainee, and Summer Work/Travel programs. CCI is currently granted full listing by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET). We are also a member of the World Youth Student and Educational Travel Confederation (WYSTC), NAFSA: Association of International Educators, WYSE: Work Abroad Association, and The Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange.
