Charleston County Human Services Commission's Community Resource Analysis This resource guide comprises more than 200 resources in the Charleston Tri-county area. The categories for resources are Shelter, Food, Health Services, Employment, Youth Services and Asset Building. The Shelter section features resources for rent/mortgage assistance, emergency housing, transitional housing and affordable housing. The Food section features resources that provide food assistance. Health Services has resources that provide free and low-cost medical and dental services; prescription medication assistance; and various forms of preventative care. The Employment section highlights various resources that can assist workers looking for jobs with job placement services, training opportunities and organizations that provide work support. The Youth Services section gives the reader resources that provide youth and their parents with enriching programs and supportive services. The Asset Building section lists organizations that can equip families with the skills and knowledge needed to increase their economic stability through financial literacy initiatives. Like Charleston County Human Services Commission, many organizations and agencies are only able to serve clients when funds are available and some restrictions do apply. This guide provides the reader with an easy comparison of programs, their eligibility criteria and contact information. Start by reviewing the programs and services CCHSC provides and then check out what other organizations have to offer! If you have any questions about the analysis, please e-mail choward@cchscom.com or call 843-724-6760 ext. 235.

*Please note: When a service area is described as “Tri-County, that means that the organization serves Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Other designated service areas are detailed.
