ABOUT THE MISSION The Canadian Council on Africa (CCAfrica) is pleased to announce the upcoming Business Trade Mission to Ethiopia, June 16-17, 2016. Organized in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada and the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Canada, this trade mission will focus on tangible business opportunities and projects that require Canadian technologies and expertise. Ethiopian Airlines serves 5 continents that encompasses 83 international, 49 Africa and 20 local destinations.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN ETHIOPIA AGRICULTURE Ethiopia is known as the home of organically grown agricultural products. It has ample arable land, diverse agro-ecological zones, good rainfall and irrigation potential. There is potential in the production and processing of agricultural crops such as coffee, tea, sugar, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and much more.

ENERGY Ethiopia has a capacity to produce more than 65,000MW of power generation from hydropower, wind energy, geothermal energy, waste and solar energy. The country planned to increase to 17,208MW /13,817MW from hydropower, 1224 from wind energy, 577MW from geothermal energy, 474MW from Ethanol and 300MW from solar energy/ and to build 15,000 km transmission lines during the Second Growth and Transformation Plan period (2015-2019). Energy Generation and Off-grid transition is open to foreign investors.

INFRASTRUCTURE & CONSTRUCTION Ethiopia has a plan to build 4561KM rail ways and more than 100,000KM road with in the coming five years. Therefore, these projects are open for potential and experienced foreign companies to invest in Construction, Financing, Designing, Technology Supply and Consultancy.

HOSPITALITY Opportunities within the development of designated 5 star hotels, lodges, resorts and restaurants are available.

MINING SECTOR The mining sector within Ethiopia includes: • The existence of 12.6 trillion CC of natural gas has been proven and ready for commercial exploration. • Abundant deposits of platinum, tantalite, iron, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, Petroleum and gemstones have also been identified and are yet to be extracted. • Industrial and construction minerals such as quartz, feldspar, mica, kainite, kaolin, talc, chromite, graphite, magnetite, industrial olivine, marble, and granite, potash, rock salt, soda ash, sulphur, silica sand, diatomite and bentonite have been identified and awaiting potential investors.

MANUFACTURING SECTOR Between 2016 and 2025, Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC) will develop and operate 100,000 hectares of land (10,000 Hectares annually). This will result in a total factory floor area of 20 million square meters (2 million delivered annually) industrial parks in the country. Other manufacturing industries include: Textiles and Garments, Leather and Leather Products, Metal and Engineering, Dairy Products, Chemicals and Construction, Agro-Processing and Pharmaceuticals.
