Wise pastors work with key leaders in the small church. In former times, when the Squire and the Parson got along, so did the church’s ministry. If not, the pastor, not the squire, would ‘move on.’ Many pastors leave before they see the fruits of trust and collegial relationships. They may leave just before the fruitful time of harvest is to begin.
