Welcome to our sixth annual Sun Country Bull & Female Sale We would like to welcome you to our 6th Annual sale. You will find some changes in this year’s sale. First, each contributor has fed their own bulls this year, and it has been an enjoyable experience to watch them develop. We sincerely believe this is the strongest set of herd bulls we have ever offered. The second change you will see is that we have moved our sale location to Johnstone Auction Mart, at Moose Jaw, SK. This change has allowed us to move our sale date a little earlier, which is something we have wanted to do for some time. Johnstone’s host many purebred bull and female sales each year, and they are located on Hwy #1 so transportation to and from the sale should be easier for everyone. Thirdly, we have also made the change to allow some females into this sale. This set of females has been picked directly from our replacement heifers, and many of these heifers would not be offered if we weren’t trying to match our breeding herd numbers to our pasture capacities. There will be heifers offered here that can work in any purebred or commercial operation. They are some of our best and they have been developed to work for the long term. This year’s sale will also be broadcast live by Cattle in Motion at www.cattleinmotion.com. If you cannot attend the sale, you can watch the sale and bid from your home computer if you wish to do so. Of course, we will also have sale representatives who will be able to give you first hand opinions on any of the sale offering and will be happy to bid for you. Of course, the best option is for you to attend the sale in person and make your own breeding and bidding decisions. We will also have more information regarding the sale offering on our websites. We will have the bull ultrasound test results posted in early March. We will also be posting short videos on the sale offering so you can see more than just a still picture. What hasn’t changed is how we have developed our bulls. They have been developed for optimum growth and NOT maximum growth. These bulls are masculine, easy fleshing and trouble free. Each contributor has culled their bull pen hard. We would like to welcome a new sale consignor this year. We have a good consignment of 6 polled yearling bulls from Rocking L Cattle Company, Wawota, SK. The Lamontagne’s are building a great set of Shorthorns and we are pleased to welcome them as consignors to this sale. The forecasts for the beef industry into the foreseeable future all look very bright. All indicators suggest that the record setting times we are experiencing will continue. We feel we are offering genetics that will enhance the profitability of your herd into the future as well. If you cannot come and see the bulls in person, we invite you to contact any of the owners or sale representatives We will always discuss our bulls and heifers honestly. Wherever possible, we will also try to assist the buyers with making transportation arrangements. We hope you can be with us on March 28th for our sale. Plan to come early for a complimentary lunch and visit with other cattle producers. Grant Alexander (for the Sun Country group)

Sun Country Philosophy...

• We develop our bulls for optimal growth with a set target of 3 lb/day. We will provide current weights and scrotal circumference information prior to or on sale day. • We will provide useful information on the bulls. The bulls have passed a breeding soundness exam. If you want more information on any of the bulls contact the owners at any time. Nobody knows these bulls and their background as well as the owners do. We would be pleased to answer any questions in an honest and no pressure manner. Once you have all the information you need, you can make the best decision as to what bulls will work best for your herd. • Every bull in this sale has passed the most scrutinizing selection process we can provide. That is, the owners have carefully selected every bull on its own merits, and every bull has met our expectations first. Any bull that is unsound in any way has already been eliminated from the sale. • Every bull selling is guaranteed to be free of TH. All bulls have been either tested for TH or verified to be free of the TH defect by pedigree. • We believe in customer service. We will assist you in any way we can to make your bull buying experience as good as possible. • We will keep your bull purchases free of charge until April 15th, after which you will be charged at cost for the feed consumed by the bulls. Any bulls returning to the consignors farm MUST be insured. Please read our bull warranty and if you have any questions, please ask any of the owners. An insurance agent will be available on sale day. • We will, wherever possible, assist in arranging transportation of your bull purchases, if required. • We are offering you a set of bulls that comes from a wide genetic base, that have been gathered from around the world. You the buyer can select what you feel will assist your breeding program, at prices you feel you can afford. Page 3

Take a look at the tremendous top and rear quarter this bull has. His dam was Heifer Calf Champion at the 2009 Agribition show. He has a 80 lb BW so he should be an excellent candidate for either use on cows or heifers.

We purchased Waukaru Ruby Rose 6502 ET in the 2011 Waukaru sale in partnership with Darrell Ippenson, Bowen, IL and she dropped this bull a few days after the sale. The Waukaru herd in Indiana is the most performance documented herd in North America. He is sired by Waukaru Top Shelf 8165 ET who is a full brother to Waukaru Patent, who is the senior herd sire at Shadybrook Farms. This bull has some extra age so he should be able to cover a good number of females. He also has a moderate BW of 86 lbs.

An ET son of Saskvalley Pioneer 126P and B Good Red Sue 1P, which makes Zantac a maternal brother to Bar Code, who is a herd sire here. We had some embryos implanted in a cooperator herd in Minnesota, and we never got down to pick them up until very late in the fall, so he has not been on feed for as long as our other bulls. Despite this, I think you will see the potential this bull possesses. BW: 94 lbs.

We have been impressed with how this calf has been maturing since weaning. Sired by Sadie’s “Hawkeye” and out of the “Silver Maisie” cow family, we are confident that he will go on to out-produce himself. He is smooth fronted, thick topped and has an awesome hair coat. One of our favorite’s here for sure. BW: 71 lbs.

Our only Matrix bull this year. We had planned to show him last fall but we had a full trailer before he was tied in. He is a mile long, with incredible top, and the hip, hindquarter, and hair that Matrix puts into all of them. His dam is a very good uddered, good milking, easy keeping female, who is a granddaughter of New Beginnings Elsie’s Jade. If you are looking to add pounds to your calves here’s the Man!! Milk 5 SHAMROCK FLORIE 68F -F668440 A young May heifer that was we never planned on selling, but decided at the very last minute to add her to the sale, as a sale feature of our consignments. Her dam has been a tremendous producer here and she certainly nicked well with Timeline. We would have loved to show her last fall but we decided she was pretty young and planned to take her to town next year. She is a definite show candidate and she will develop into a front pasture female. Our pain is your gain on this one!

WOLF WILLOW SPARKLE DELIGHT 2S XF682201 A late April daughter of Timeline that will mature into a very good female. Her grand dam topped the Fever sale a few years ago and sold to Cyclone Trace in Iowa. We retained her dam and she is becoming one of our best young producers. Plus, she is from the Sparkle cow line… nothing more needs to be said.

Terms of Sale Bidding: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Bidding Disputes: The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. Terms: The terms of the sale are cash, unless previous arrangements have been made with the owner. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements will be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale and before any cattle will be released from the sale facility. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be fed, watered and cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable time. If leaving your bull in our care we strongly encourage you as the new owner to insure him. Insurance: A representative of a major insurance company will be present to care for insuring cattle. Certificate of Registry: A certificate of registry and transfer will be furnished for each animal. Announcements: Changes of information contained in this catalogue relating to the animals offered for sale will be announced from the auction box and such announcements shall take precedence. Health: All cattle will be in excellent health. Breeder’s Guarantee: All animals sold are guaranteed breeders by the owner. Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within six months after date of sale, if in healthy condition, may be returned to the seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for a period of six months to prove the animal a breeder. The seller at his option may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal quality in full settlement of ALL claims. All complaints regarding breeding difficulties must be reported in writing by the buyer to the seller within the specified time above and any animal returned must be free from disease and in good health. Retained Interest: In the event that an owner wishes to reserve the right to collect semen from any bull in the sale, it will be announced prior to the sale and from the auction block as well. Semen will be collected at the buyer`s convenience and at the seller`s expense, and it will only be available for use in the seller`s herd. Liability: Neither owners, sale manager, clerks, nor anyone connected with the sale assumes any responsibility, legal or otherwise for damage of any kind. Contract: The above terms and conditions shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal sold.

Bull Warranty We guarantee to provide you with a sound, fertile bull, capable of servicing a reasonable number of cows. In the event that your bull is a non-satisfactory breeder, the seller will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for more than the original selling price of any bull sold in the sale. The consignors will not provide replacement or credit for any physical injury or mismanagement. Therefore, we stress the importance of insurance on your bull. An insurance agent will be available on sale day. We also realize that breeding season is also a very busy time on most farms. We would ask that you check your new bulls periodically, so that if there are problems, we can hear about them sooner rather than later. This is equally important for the bull buyer as well. If your bull is not breeding, or becomes injured, it is important to resolve the problem as soon as possible in the breeding season.
