JOURNAGAN RANCH

Route 1 Box 85G Mountain Grove, Missouri 65711

Phone: 417-948-2669, (c) 417-838-1482 Fax 417-948-0509 Welcome Friends, On behalf of the entire staff at Journagan Ranch of Missouri State University, we would like to extend a personal invitation to be with us October 4, 2014 for the Genetically Yours XXII sale. We would like to say thank you to all of our friends and customers, you make this event special. I must say a final farewell to the Patriarch of Journagan Ranch. Leo Journagan passed from this life on May 29th, 2014. Leo is remembered for his love of life, humor and the stewardship of the ranch he loved. Leo had an unending passion for Herefords. It was an honor and pleasure to work along side him. Leo was a great husband; father, brother, businessman and friend. His extended family are the people who were fortunate to work for him. Leo’s legacy will live on through his ranch and the students and staff of Missouri State. We have an exceptional set of cattle in this years offering. The bull prospects are exciting. They have the look and balance supported by a great set of genetics and breeding values. Twenty six of the bulls will be service ready. All bulls have a DNA profile completed. The Heifer calves are exceptional, very balanced and represent the pinnacle of our breeding program. We are proud of our bred heifer selection. They come from the heart of our replacements. One hundred and fifty of these heifers averaged a 4.03 on their IMF this spring. The cows are tried and proven. Many Dams of Distinction are represented. They have the heritage of several generations of Journagan genetics. This is the fifth sale since the Journagan family graciously gifted their ranch to Missouri State University. The Ranch is an asset that has helped bring Missouri State Agriculture to the forefront. We have the commitment to provide the best Hereford genetics to our beef industry. One of our goals is to provide a natural classroom for students to experience real life situations in a ranching operation. This brings a practical application to their college experience. We received recognition of being the number six breeder of Dams of Distinction in the Nation for 2013. What a great honor. We have instituted a ranch to the plate beef program. This involves cattle from the LJR/MSU program that are bred, born, raised and harvested in the Ozarks. We are retailing our product in local stores in Springfield. I would like to introduce our ranch staff, Russell Driskell, Eric Lueck, Jacob Peterson, along with Anson Elliot, Head of the Darr School of Agriculture and Justin Sissel MSU Farm Operating Manager. I would also like to show my appreciation to the many MSU interns that have worked along side of us this past year. Please note that our Fourth Annual Journagan Ranch Futurity will start at 6:00 p.m. Friday Evening. We will have fun, food, and great fellowship. If you need assistance please give us a call. We hope you will make plans to spend the weekend with us in the Beautiful Ozarks. Sincerely, Marty Lueck Journagan Ranch Manager Missouri State University.

Dear Friends, Welcome to “Genetically Yours XXII”, perhaps the very best offering of Polled Hereford cattle ever sold by Journagan Ranch/Missouri State University. 22 Sales are a lot of sales to consistently maintain the high standards that this program offers. This is one of the most predictable herds in the Polled Hereford industry backed up by the exceptional number of Dams of Distinction. Journagan Ranch/MSU always ranks near the top for the entire breed. The cows offered this year all have daughters in the herd. I know of no other operation that can have a sale each year with a record like this. This year an exceptional group of daughters of LOGIC will be offered. They are cows that you will like-stout, deep bodied cows that perform on fescue. An exciting feature will be 26 service age bulls for the sale. All are semen tested, DNA tested and ready to go to work for you. Marty Lueck and his crew have gone all out to bring you an outstanding offering of Polled Hereford cattle. Marty does a great job managing the herd along with his outstanding crew. Marty, the crew, Dr. Anson Elliott and operations manager, Justin Sissel will be great hosts and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
