National Western "The One-Vol XX" Simmental Sale

Page 1

Welcome to 20th Anniversary of “The One” Simmental Sale! Where has the time gone…just does not seem possible to be 20 years since we sat down with Chad Cook of the Colorado Simmental Association in Manhattan, KS at the AJSA National Classic to discuss the possibilities of what this sale could become. Hindsight is a great factor but Chad and the CSA board had the vision and we are so grateful that they put their faith and trust in us. Together we have had quite a journey. It would take pages to start to name the breed changing individuals that walked through this Denver “The One” sale ring and after twenty years, their legacy lives on in the sale offering of 2013. Each year, everyone involved in the Denver events of shows and sales strive to top last year’s goal and it is no doubt that is the case this year when you analyze the powerhouse genetics the breeders have committed to this sale. It is no secret that it is great time to be in the beef business and the Simmental breed is truly enjoying the ride and rightly so. The progress that this breed has made to make the cattle functional, attractive and profitable with EPDs to stand the test of time is second to none. We are not done yet; the progressive breeders in this sale and this breed have only just begun. Teamwork equals success and each year we are fortunate to have many talented people assist with the Denver events. Thank you to the Colorado Simmental Association for their countless hours and the 20 year journey together, the entire NW staff, everyone from ASA which includes the office from parent verification, processing and troubleshooting departments. The Register staff that contributes countless hours throughout the year to assist in the marketing needs along with the ASA field staff for all the days on the road promoting Simgenetics. Thanks also to everyone at EDJE Technologies for the marketing assistance on the web and everyone that is part of Team EE on a full time and part time basis - you are the best and we would not want to do this without you! A big Mile High Magic thank you to the prominent breeders that are dedicated to this sale and our breed. The ASA Foundation and the AJSA youth continue to be a top priority for everyone at EE Inc. This year, we have a very unique donation package from Lazy H Farms. Randy & Karen Henthorn and their family wanted to offer something different so they dug deep into the Lazy H genetics and are offering a pregnancy from Triple C Personality and Remington Lock N Load, 2 sets of 3 embryos from Personality by 5 leading sires and also 20 units of semen from the popular Lock N Load! Talk about a genetics giant of a package. Our family has personally had a lot of fun with the Henthorn family at the AJSA National Classics through the years and truly appreciate their donation this year. 2014 donation will be from the Owens family of Owen Bros Cattle Co. Remember that all donations, great or small, contribute to the ability of the ASA Foundation to assist our youth activities, education and research. We invite you once again to Denver for all the Magical Moments in the Mile High City and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of “The One!” Sincerely, Val & Lori Eberspacher and Kelly Schmidt Eberspacher Enterprises Inc.

It’s hard to put into a short paragraph the impact P403 has had on our program and the type of future she holds for another progressive breeder. She truly is a “one of a kind female” in many ways. P403 continues to impress of with her consistent production of phenotypically dominant offspring. She stamps her calves with that massive foot and bone structure, big explosive rib and feminine look it takes to be a force in today’s extremely competitive marketplace. Last year at our farm, we had seven calves born to P403, six of which where baldies and those seven calves generated over $95,000 worth of income for us and only two of them were sold in an auction setting. Simply put, her progeny are the first to sell and they demand a premium. P403 is a one if a kind baldy making donor that boasts a solid set of EPDs topped off with a 124 API and is backed by the legendary Antoinette cow family. P403 works very well in transplant, for details contact Chris. She sells in her entirety, open and ready to flush.

JS Untouchable 21U offers breed leading genetics and arguably one of, if not, the top ½ blood Simmental donor cows in the Simmental Breed today makes this more than an opportunity, but a sound investment for the future of your program. We want to sincerely thank Kiersten Jass and Jass Simmentals, IA, for giving us the opportunity to purchase this female at the 2009 American Royal Sale. Kiersten enjoyed a lot of success with Untouchable being place 3rd overall female at the National Classic in Columbus, IN, as well as many other show championships. Untouchable has blessed the RS&T program with numerous progeny and her flush history of averaging over 16 eggs in seven different flushes. The first flushes we performed was utilizing the Jones Show Cattle bull, Optimus Prime in 2010, the exciting bull that was on display at NWSS, and to say this was a success would be an understatement. She produced three outstanding heifer calves and we were able to share a couple of these heifers with Randy and Troy Jones in Ohio. These two heifers were marketed at their 2011 High Standard Female Sale, bringing $35,000 and $30,500 individually and at that time we knew we had a special donor cow. The third heifer that Jordan Cowger retained was no slouch herself, having been placed as the 4th overall Bred and Owned Percentage female at the 2012 National Classic in Lima, OH, 16th overall, Reserve Champion at the Missouri State Fair Junior Show and was named Overall Bred and Owned Champion Simmental Female in the 2012 Missouri State Fair 4H Show. Many top breeders have admired the first Untouchable flush mate sisters and having sold some Optimus Prime eggs to our good friends Ediger Simmentals, NE they will have an Optimus Prime X Untouchable bull on display in the yards, next to Untouchable. Last year we felt very fortunate to market 3 eggs by Upgrade in the 2012 SimMagic Sale that commanded a final bid of $1,900 each selling to Rick Dunsmore NLC Simmentals and then sold 3 Sexed Montecito eggs to Next Generation Simmentals, IL for $1,350 per egg. Furthermore, at the 2012 Gathering Sale in Excelsior Springs we sold 3 more embryos out of Milestone, thank you to Don Guthridge, and 3 more sexed Montecito eggs going to Ed Rule of Shoal Creek Simmentals. Untouchable has been flushed to Optimus Prime, Meyer 734, Saginaw, Montecito, Upgrade, Milestone and Wide Track (top selling bull at 2012 Werning sale). This young donor cow only turning 5 years old January 2013 has successfully produced embryos, heifers and bulls. Her EPD numbers make all matings possible having an API of 115. Numerous prominent breeders have inquired if we would ever entertain offers to sell Untouchable and the fairest way to set a market value is offer her at auction. We are excited about the opportunity to welcome a new partner on Untouchable, as we are offering ½ interest in this elite female, with no possession. Take your program to the top level and join us in enjoying her contributions for years to come.

It is with great pleasure that we will offer a flush on Silverstone CF Hottie. She was named the Reserve Grand Champion at the 2012 NAILE. This show was loaded with powerful and successful females that have won several shows this past year. This was the only time that we have ever exhibited Hottie at a major show. In fact she was only shown once before as a calf last December at the Indiana Hoosier Beef Congress, there she won her class. She comes from one of the most powerful cow families in the breed, the Double D Black Chyna cow family. Her dam, Silverstone Chyna Marie, just keeps making great ones. Marie herself has seen purple at both Kansas City and Louisville as a bred female. We have sold several Marie daughters to other breeders that have gone on to capture purple. A full sister to Hottie went to Chris Sweat in Arkansas that dominated there. We sold Silverstone Miss Awe, better known as Miss A, to the Tingle’s in Kentucky where she won a division two years in a row at the NAILE and later was named Champion Cow/Calf at Denver. The calf that was on the side of Miss A, earlier this summer was named Reserve Grand Champion at the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes. Another daughter of Marie, Silverstone Marie-N-Time (better known as M I T) was Reserve Fall Heifer Calf at Denver for Lundy Farms, McElroy’s and us. The past three years at Louisville a Marie daughter has won a division, a feat we are sure proud of. I believe there is no other cow family in the breed that is as fertile and prolific as this one. They just keep on making great functional, sound, massive, fertile cattle that have been accepted from coast to coast and they somehow find the purple at the end of the day. We are proud to offer a flush on Marie with a minimum of eight (8) #1 eggs with an open top. Flush work will be done at Donor Solutions by Dr. Chuck Hannon at Renesselaer, IN. Buyer pays for semen and all flush costs. We would like 1/2 down at sale time and the remainder before pick up of embryos. If cow families make a difference that have balanced EPDs and have a proven track record to produce National Champion caliber cattle, then that is what you’re buying with this flush. Buy with confidence.

Her son Ebonys Grandmaster is the 2012 #1 sire for registrations in the breed including last year’s Denver Champion Female and this year’s National Champion and Res National Champion Females in Kansas City. The One 2013 marks the five year anniversary for Aubrey’s Cattle Company and the Aubrey’s Black Blaze II 5T program in this event. Remington 216X (aka Secret Sister) is a direct result of the very first offering of 5T genetics through the 2009 sale when Remington Cattle Company purchased a flush at $13,500. That flush yielded a phenomenal group, including this first calf heifer and her bull calf also selling in this lot. He is a double bred Black Joker. They are the reigning 2012 NAILE Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair. Flush Mates include Secret Weapon, DMCC’s baldy power house A.I. sire, and Lucas Wisnefski’s baldy heifer that won the 2011 Illinois State Fair. We enjoy acknowledging the milestone in our Simmental cattle journey; offering an elite selection from our program is the perfect way to celebrate five years of success in Denver. 216X sells open and ready to flush or breed.

We have been consistent Denver exhibitors for about 30 years. As a newcomer to the Denver Simmental circle, we have opted to offer a donor quality female on this year’s National Western Sale. Miss Star Above was successfully shown as a junior project by the Dave Stoltz Family, Pierce, NE. Her distinctions include Grand Champion FFA Simmental Breeding Heifer at the 2012 Nebraska State Fair; Grand Champion Simmental Heifer at the 2012 Northern Exposure Show, KS; Grand Champion in both Ring A and B at the 2012 Blue Valley Beef Revue, NE; Grand Champion and Reserve Supreme in Ring A along with Grand Champion and 4th Overall in Ring B at the 2012 Sneak A Peak Show, NE; Grand Champion & 7th Overall at the 2012 Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic, NE. She was bred with WS A Step Up X27 sexed heifer semen for calving ease and a highly probable replacement for the new owners. A Step Up, a purebred blaze faced Simmental, was the outcross Simmental sensation of the spring 2011 season, a powerful Grandmaster son. She possesses a white snip and two white dots on her head. Her dam tested free of NH, AM and CA. She is assumed free of present genetic abnormalities. We would like to retain one flush at the buyers convenience and our expense.

We have sold two full sisters as open heifers and her full brother is Lot 33 in this sale, so there is a lot of genetic and phenotypic predictability here. The HHSF Black Glitter family continues to prove dreams do come true! Felisha is the next chapter in the royal Glitter family. Her full sister, Flicka, paved the way, here in Denver, last year as a $25,000 high seller and then two days later being named Grand Champion Purebred Heifer in the Open Show. Like her sister, dam and grandam, Felisha is long, smooth, ultra feminine and sound structured wrapped in a moderate frame. Hilbrands stated when we purchased her dam “the resulting calf should be nothing less than spectacular with the combination of Glitter and Ebonys Joy” and were they ever right, this next chapter continues to be part of this historic cow family that is winning not only in the show ring but also in producing consistently impressive progeny. Felisha was heading for our donor pen but the decision was made to offer you our best bred. She is bred to the EPD giant Upgrade with no bull exposure. The possibilities are endless! Mueller’s would like to reserve the right to show Felisha on the Hill for her new owners. We reserve the right of one flush consisting of a minimum of six (6) embryos • A.I. It has been a pleasure to watch this young female develop into a feminine, long fronted lady with massive internal dimension. The power lies in the pedigree of this one as well. Sired by Larry Drake’s brood cow maker, GW Mr. MT 790L, and with the 995J cow on the bottom side means the world to us. Gateway Simmental offers Pick of the Females YOUR CHOICE from YEARS of PROVEN GENETICS! Gateway is offering the pick of the females in our herd at Denver The One Sale this year. As most of you know, our program has been around a long time and there are a large number of females to sort from. There are descendants of many of the herd bulls we have produced that have had a positive impact on the breed. The animal you will be selecting will be in her working clothes, so production records and EPDs will be essential for aiding in the selection. A list of ASA numbers can be made available for those interested in this lot. Gateway is a proud, long standing program that has survived the test of time.

This heifer comes from one of the real successful flushes we have had to date. Her two flush mates averaged $10,750 on our production sale, and this one is every bit as good. She is very long necked and flat shouldered and combines that with a big, sweeping rib cage. This sister is probably the smoothest muscled of the sisters, but like them, is super sound and as comfortable on her feet and legs as you can make them. Her dam is doing a great job for AJE and our program and we are expecting big things out of her going foward. “Sparkle” the definition: To shine or glisten with gleams of light, as a brilliant gem: to glitter. She moves with grace, style, and carries that explosive thickness and eye appeal that only her sire, Broker can add. Sweet Tea is a daughter of the renowned K-LER Sweetness, who has dominated ‘The Hill’ since being the first purebred Simmental heifer ever to win both the Junior and Open Simmental Shows in the same year at the 2008 NWSS and is sired by the highly acclaimed Angus bull, Connealy Final Product. Sweetness was the high selling Lot #1 Female at this 2012 sale when ½ interest sold for $31,000 then subsequently syndicated as ‘Sweetness Syndicate’ for a total valuation of $62,000. Sweetness is a total outcross for most Simmental pedigrees, averages over 12 embryos per flush, is heterozygous black, homozygous polled, non-diluter and scores an 8 for Marbling, 8 for Percent Choice and 6 for REA on the Igenity DNA profile. Like her mother, Sweet Tea is flawless in structure and movement being heavily muscled, massive bodied yet moderate framed, phenotypically displaying those ‘easy keeping’ genes inherited from Sweetness. She is the true definition of “being sound”. 113Z has a big square hip, extra bone and a super show heifer look. This is the second calf from this young donor dam. The first maternal sibling was a tremendous bull prospect that we kept back to breed heifers. We are excited to offer this great show/donor female. Buy with confidence.

Let’s start with the Meyer 734 grandam, a cow that blessed us with many great females from multiple sires, including the Heat Seeker dam of this powerful Broker female. Don’t get caught up on the numbers. This cow family makes great females that milk and breed to the first service. 603 daughters have all been retained for replacement or sold averaging over $3500.00. This female combines some of the most dominant old school genetics with Broker, one of today’s hottest new sires.

The legacy of the HHSF Black Glitter family continues! Fistfull of Glitter aka “Fog” is a daughter of Mr Hoc Broker and FVF Glitter in the Air. Her sire, Broker, is one of the most impressive bulls to walk in the show ring, winning at all the majors and even more, if you had the opportunity to see him trailing cows this summer in the Nebraska heat. Her dam is a member of the dream cross of Black Glitter and BC Lookout. The Black Glitter family has had tremendous success in the ring the past few years. After watching Fog develop, her dam quickly made her way into the donor pen. Hip, rib, top, bone, shape and dimension are all attibutes she possesses. She is the one who is asked about when visitors have walked the pens. Her future is bright both in the show ring and as a great breeding piece. Fun all the way! Mueller’s would like to reserve the right to show Fog on the Hill for her new owners. We reserve the right of a future flush consisting of a minimum of 6 embryos that product two pregnancies at the seller’s expense.

Without a doubt, one of the most unique percentage heifers we have raised to date. This heifer never gives you a bad look. She is so cocky and up headed, yet is so deep and so smooth and travels with ease. Her hair quality is second to none as well. Enough about her good looks, now take a look at her cow family. The Rhythm cow family has been our bread and butter for several years and that just adds to the appeal and predictability of this heifer. Seven K18 daughters averaged just under $7000 in our production sale, sired by three different bulls. Make sure to look up this heifer, she is young, but her best days are still ahead of her.

Making her debut in Denver is Starlet. She is definitely on her way to becoming the star of the show. She is such a beauty that has been a standout since birth and bred to be one. Stemming from Cooper’s Eastern Regional Percentage Champion that went on to be a high seller in the North American Select Sale and The Forman, the sire of numerous great ones. All the pieces are there...long clean front, tremendous rib and middle, big boned, sound structured, great haired and baldy. When put on the move, the magic happens! She is feminine and graceful from the way her feet hit the ground to the way she carries her top. The total package hits you hard.
