DIRECTOR’S FOREWORD The Cat Street Gallery invites you to a very special exhibition by The Connor Brothers. The mysterious duo debut in Hong Kong with their solo show SAINTS AND SINNERS. ‘The Connor Brothers’ is the pseudonym of Mike Snelle & James Golding. Their work explores the boundary between truth and fiction and raises questions about how we construct meaning from experience. By blurring the line between truth and fiction the artists puncture a hole in our every day construction of reality and through this pin prick we catch a glimpse of an altogether larger world with infinitely more possibilities. The Connor Brothers cast a cynical and penetrating eye at contemporary culture. Their work is often humorous and steeped in both historical and popular culture, presenting an almost anthropological view of contemporary western societies obsession with wealth, fame and the unrealistic idealism of advertisings’ vision of relationships. The Connor Brothers have had sell-out shows in London, Los Angeles and Sydney. Their work has been auctioned by both Christie’s and Bonhams with their work having been sold alongside Banksy and Damien Hirst and is included in several important private collections, as well as the Victoria and Albert Museum. They recently sold a work at a Phillips auction for double the estimate.
