The Asperges On Sundays before the principal Mass the church and congregation are sprinkled with holy water. Antiphon P. Asperges me, C. Domine, hyssopo, et mundabor: lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor. (Ps 50) Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam misericordiam tuam. V. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. R. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in sæcula sæculorum. Amen. Antiphon Asperges me, Domine, hyssopo, et mundabor: lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor. (or during Easter time) Antiphon P. Vidi aquam C. egredientem de templo, a latere dextro, alleluia: et omnes ad quos pervenit aqua ista salvi facti sunt, et dicent: Alleluia, alleluia. (Ps 117) Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus; quoniam in sæculum misericordia eius. V. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto.

Lord, with hyssop and I shall be cleansed; you will wash me, and I shall shine whiter than snow. (Ps 50) Have mercy on me, O God, according to your great mercy. V. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam (alleluia). S. Et salutare tuum da nobis (alleluia). P. Domine, exaudi orationem meam. S. Et clamor meus ad te veniat. P. Dominus vobiscum. S. Et cum spiritu tuo. P. Oremus. Exaudi nos, Domine sancte, Pater omnipotens, æterne Deus et mittere digneris sanctum angelum tuum de cælis, qui custodiat, foveat, protegat, visitet, atque defendat omnes habitantes in hoc habitaculo. Antiphon I saw water coming forth from the Temple from the right side, alleluia: and all those to whom that water came were saved, and they shall say: alleluia, alleluia. After either text, the Priest continues: P. Show us, Lord, your mercy (alleluia). S. And grant us your salvation (alleluia). P. O Lord, hear my prayer. S. And let my cry come unto you. P. The Lord be with you. S. And with your spirit. P. Let us pray. Holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God: hear us, and deign to send your holy angel from heaven to watch over, cherish, protect, abide with, and defend all who dwell in this place. Through Christ our Lord. S. Amen.

To God, who gives joy to my youth. P. Do justice for me, O God, and give me redress against an unholy people; rescue me from the wicked and cruel man. S. For you, O God, are my strength; why have you forsaken me? And why do I go about in sadness, while the enemy afflicts me? P. Send forth your light and your truth; for they have led me, and brought me to your holy mountain and into your tents. S. And I will go up to the altar of God; to God, who gives joy to my youth. P. I shall praise you upon the harp, O God, my God. Why are you sad, my soul; why do you disturb me? S. Trust in God, for I shall praise him still; the salvation of my countenance, and my God. P.
