FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 05/0/2016 Statement by Cllr Gary Gannon on Stephen Donnelly’s departure from the Social Democrats Cllr Gary Gannon: I remain dedicated to building the Social Democrats as a true alternative.

It was announced today that Stephen Donnelly is stepping down from the Social Democrats with immediate effect. I want to wish Stephen the best of luck as he sets off on a different path.

I am absolutely committed to working with our TDs Catherine and Roisin, our Councillors Cian and Jennifer and the wider Social Democrats team, on building the party and reflecting the reality of Irish society with our progressive politics.

We want to get to a point where when we enter Government, we can enact legislation and create budgets in the manner that supports a healthy, inclusive and progressive society.

I firmly believe in social democratic values and remain passionate about changing the landscape of Irish politics and offering the people of Ireland a real political alternative.
