The constant awareness of the city as a fragment, as triggered many architects and urban planners to rethink the city, the planning and leading them to uncover new strategies that allow them to give back the city for Men. The city wasn’t thought as a whole, but as set of parts, that when touched, we would witness its rupture.

It’s in this fragments left in the city that object-city unveils its reason for existence, for the possibility to create bonds between parts, transforming them into a whole.

The acceptance of the concept object-city as a means of urban planning emerges from the awareness of its capability to act as a regenerator of public space and the ability to create an identity. In this particular case study, by applying it, ir will permite the activation of the place, with repercussions not only to the valley, but to the city itself.

Man is Pedestrian by nature. It was by walking that mankind built cities. While Man was building and shaping cities, they also became a result of those citys, and changed by it.

The aim of this project consists in exploring the potencial of walking, in Architecture. Proposing a solution based on Human movements, the result, is several paths, conecting Man into the City (City Path), conecting Man into the site (Memorial Path) and Man into the Culture (Cultural Path).

Once Psychiatric Hospital, the site is now abandoned, leaving only in is memory, the Security Pavilion, now as Museum. Considering the symbolic meaning of this place, it was intended to create a path that returns the memory of the site, giving him his lost identity.

Considering that only through man, we can provide identity to a place, it was proposed a library, associated with a cultural area, developed around a path, ripping through the building and becoming part of it.

It is through these different paths that the project is built, and through them that we can experience it.

BEYOND THE MARKET

Re-Thinking The Marketplace A New Point of View Municipal Market | Eatery | Comercial ACADEMIC PROJECT | 2012 Campolide - Lisboa The main goal of this project lies in re-thinking the concept of Market. Re-thinking the ambience, but never his essence, that cannot be changed. Therefore, it proposes to create a site that works like a normal market, (with meat, fish and vegetables), but, on the other hand, connects with restaurants and multipurpose areas left for bazaars, in the upper level.

Beside the market, restaurants and bazaars, it intends to create gardens so that the market employs and dwellers could use it for their own profit. The third floor is then left to small storages for those gardens.

The arrival to the market is made by a ground level promenade, that allow us to raise and go through the different floors. This promenade is also punctuated by little stands, attracting not only the current visitors, but also pasengers.

The Market itself, develops in 3 floors. These 3 levels can work together as an one building, or work separately. They can work connected or disconnected. So it’s possible to access the different levels separately, but at the same time, they can work together.
