Grinds are performed slowly, in a controlled manner. They force you to maintain tension when transitioning weights between various muscle groups - the Turkish getup is an excellent example. Hybrid movements are a combination of both. All three styles have big benefits for a paddler. Most importantly, they connect your hands to your feet. These movements create stability, strength, and power through your core, working it in ways you may not be used to. This connection is an essential requirement for paddling. Your feet and legs are used to create drive on the board while you are leveraging power with your paddle on the water. The connection is your core. Nothing trains this chain as well as kettlebells. You won’t be able to gain these connection benefits by lying on a weight bench, sitting on a spin bike, or doing isolated muscle exercises. Training smart will allow you to take your paddling performance to the next level. Don’t just pick up equipment and go through the motions: be smart, seek knowledge. Kettlebells are a unique training tool for any fitness level and will provide you with incredible results.
