Individual troop leaders cannot act as Certifying Organizations for their troops. All volunteerism certified in the name of Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails must be done so by council staff.
Reward Volunteers (RV) is a FREE iPhone and web application that tracks and rewards the efforts of volunteers and the organizations they serve. Using Facebook Connect, volunteers track their hours, share photos of their volunteerism, and post their activities to their Facebook newsfeed. The more hours accrued and the more sharing that occurs, the more chances volunteers have to win prizes and the more chances the organizations they serve have to win money. Winning Rewards: Drawings for rewards for app users take place between set time periods. The list of prizes and the schedule of drawings are listed on the website: www.RewardVolunteers.coop. Activity in the form of logged hours, comments, and “likes” on posts, as well as opened emails about RV volunteer activity represents your “Reach.” Think of Reach as “influence” or literally how many people you have reached with your story of volunteerism. When RV selects monthly prize winners, participants with more Reach have more chances to win. Reach is calculated with 4:1 ratio of hours compared to sharing. Who Can Participate: Anyone 13 years of age or older with a Facebook account can participate. Anyone 18 years of age can win prizes. Under 18, a parental signature is required. Winners must be US residents. Participants can log their time at www.RewardVolunteers.coop or in their iPhone app. Using the App: Use the iPhone app or web widget, write in the exact name of the organization you are volunteering for (Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails) as it is written on their Facebook page. You can also just write in an activity if you are not volunteering for a particular organization. Then, log your volunteer hours accrued within the past 24-hours. An editable message will be automatically generated, which you can post to Facebook or email to your friends. You can also attach and share pictures of your volunteerism when using the iPhone application.
