I am so glad for the slight decrease in the temperatures this past week. I would like to think that the really hot days are over for this summer. We shall see. Linda Merrick, Lois Duffey, Bobbie Nolen, Jan Scallions and Emily Higginbottam enjoyed a day out on Thursday. They went to see the new movie “The Help” depicting life in Jackson, MS, during the 1950’s. They were also given a tour of Jane Moorer’s beautiful new home in Jackson. On Friday evening, most of them attended a fund raiser for Delores Gresham in Brownsville, where the Barnetts entertained. Martha Crutcher took a trip down memory lane going back to Hickory Valley to visit her parents’ graves, where she placed flowers. It had been many years since she had been there, and she was truly thankful for the opportunity to return. I was so honored to be able to attend the “100” Birthday Celebration for one of my favorite ladies. Mrs. Mary Neil Halbrook will have her birthday in a couple of weeks, and her grandchildren held a lovely party in her honor. Mrs. Halbrook and Sheila were absolutely beautiful, and it was delightful to see them. Mrs. Halbrook is also celebrating the birth of her new greatgreat grandson, Wells Mark Halbrook, who is the son of Jim and Alexis Halbrook and the grandson of Mark and Denise Halbrook. I am sending a GREAT BIG SPECIAL BIRTHDAY WISH to my precious little granddaughter, Claire Francis Russell, who will be two years
