Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for the SU’s membership services, including representation, advice, sport, and societies, aligned with the SU’s strategy.
Lead and line manage the Heads of Student Activities and Voice & Advocacy, supporting performance, development, and service delivery.
Develop and oversee long-term plans to improve participation in democracy, extracurricular activity, and student-led support.
Champion student voice through policy development, campaigns, and representation, working closely with elected officers.
Lead operational planning, budget setting, and resource management for membership services.
Act as Deputy Returning Officer for elections, ensuring accessible and democratic processes.
Represent the SU on internal and external committees, and contribute to consultations and sector policy responses.
Foster strategic partnerships across the University and with national student organisations.
Embed equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and the SU’s values into all areas of leadership and service development.
Support the CEO in governance and strategic projects, contributing to the Union’s overall direction.

• Essential Desirable
Commitment to EDI and alignment with the SU’s values. •
Experience in a leadership role within a membership or studentled organisation.
Proven success in strategic planning, service improvement, and cross-functional team leadership.
Strong understanding of student engagement, higher education, and democratic structures.
Budget management and operational planning expertise.
Experience supporting or managing elected student officers.
Track record of building influential partnerships with senior stakeholders.
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Experience reporting to or supporting a Trustee Board.
Familiarity with Welsh HE policy and the student voice landscape.
