Sixty years ago, the Camrose Flying Club decided to invite aircraft owners in the area to touch down on its grass landing strip early on a summer Sunday morning for a community Fly-In Breakfast. It would be a way for pilots to get together and admire other’s flying machines, ‘talk shop’ and generally mingle for two or three hours. It would also give the general public a chance to get involved, short term or long, in the world of aviation. Building on the successes of six decades, weather permitting, on

Sunday morning, May 28, over one hundred aircraft are likely to land on the now paved 4,500’ x 100’ runway at the Camrose Airport. A hearty western breakfast, complete with Starbucks coffee will be served from 7:00 a.m. until noon. To accommodate the crowd, which seems to grow with each passing year, additional food preparation equipment has been added this year to reduce waiting time. Another innovation this year is that golf car rides will be available for those with mobility issues. A registration desk will be open for COPA for Kids. Parents are invited to register their children, ages 7 to 17, for this program which involves a thorough pre-flight briefing followed by a free 20-minute flight. (See ad on page 17 for additional information about this exciting event.)
