iPHONE 5: NEW CHARGER PORT SIZE TO BRING ABOUT NEW BUSINESS According to Reuters, Apple’s newest generation of the iPhone, expected to go on sale in October, will include a smaller charger port. The iPhone 5 will have a 19-pin connector port at the bottom of the phone rather than the normal 30-pin port found in previous iPhones. The decrease in size is meant to make more room for the earphone port to move to the bottom, and can allow for more options for designs or perhaps even a bigger battery. This would mean more business for accessory vendors, since customers would have to invest in new accessories to accommodate for the change, upsetting some Apple fans who will have to purchase new docks, speakers and more. However, dedicated Apple fans will most likely accept this change and remain a loyal Apple user, regardless of the size of the charger port. SHARK WEEK MAKES A SPLASH THIS YEAR WITH ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY The shark hype begins again this August 12, with the kickoff of Discovery Channel’s 25th Anniversary of Shark Week. the World,” “Air Jaws Apocalypse” and the anniversary special, “Shark Week’s 25 Best Bites.” Mythbusters is even taking part, with “Mythbusters’ Jawsome Shark Special” premiering August 13. LOS ANGELES RANKS NO. 1 FOR WORST TRAFFIC IN NORTH AMERICA GPS company TomTom released its annual top 10 most congested North American cities list, with Los Angeles sitting at the top in first place. L.A. are Miami, Seattle and Tampa, Florida. Seattle, Houston and Ottawa, Ontario are the top cities that have experienced the most increases in traffic within the past year. While traffic is mainly a downer, it is reported to be a sign of economic growth. TomTom found that national congestion levels have remained flat since the beginning of 2011, representative of the nation’s current economic growth. It was also found that in most cities, the worst congested traffic times include Thursday mornings and Friday evenings. The best times to drive on the freeway are Monday evenings and Friday mornings, which contain the least amount of traffic. If you can’t stand traffic, consider moving to Edmonton, Alberta, New York or Boston, which ranked at the top for the greatest decrease in traffic over the past year.
