Nicole Gerland design portfolio

I was born and raised in the beautiful Lake of Constance region and completed my studies in International Management in Konstanz, Indonesia and Singapore. After spending some time working in Singapore I then moved to Milan to complete my Master’s Degree in Interior Design at the Scuola Politecnica di Design. I have lived and worked in Germany, Singapore, Milan and San Francisco and over the past years I have had the chance to work on projects in diverse fields and of different scales e.g. commercial, residential, hospitality, exhibition and product design. I am passionate about all scales of design and enjoy the multi-disciplinary approach to projects.

Little Island Brewery

................................................... F&B feasibility proposal. Concept and mood boards. ................................................... Design: Nicole Gerland Year: 2013/2014 Location: Singapore

The concept for the Little Island Brewery is to create a space that reflects the fine and artisinal qualities of the beverages and food so artfully prepared and served. An array of colors, textures and elements are chosen to compliment the experience. The aim is to create a space where friends chose to gather and to enjoy the unique setting of this cozy and comfortable environment.

Materials chosen are meant to compliment the artisanal products served. Natural materials with rough but refined character stand in contrast to industrial surfaces.

Color palette The natural color palette is inspired by the ingredients used to prepare the food and beverages served at the Little Island Brewery.

1.Open kitchen

An open kitchen with counter seating adds to the dining experience. Chefs prepare high quality dishes with specially selected ingredients to round off the body of the beer.

5.Coffee Corner

During the morning hours the Little Island offers high quality coffee from Indonesia and a selection of small pastries to passer-byers on their way to work. A movable, detached structure in form of a “coffee bicycle” or “coffee truck” offers flexibility to the Little Island Brewery. Coffee will be offered from morning onwards - the Brewery will, however, only open it’s doors from lunch hour onwards.
