John Kosmopoulos Canada

John Kosmopoulos is an international award-winning photographer specializing in architecture, abstract, long exposure, and minimalist black and white fine art photography. He resides with his loving family in the great city of Toronto where he balances his passion for the photographic arts and writing with his love of the behaviour sciences as a consultant and educator. John’s inspiration for becoming a photographer can be found in his artist’s statement below:

This discourse inevitably leads the photographer to discover their own intersection on the continuum between the ordinary and the extraordinary psychological and emotional impact of their art and the meta-creative impressions between the photographer’s realized vision and the observer of the photographer’s art.

As much as it is a practical philosophy, it is also a Artistic Statement guiding principle of how to educate the eye to John is guided by an envision the world with a “eclectic aesthetic fine different and authentic art” (EAFA) philosophy purpose – to find the of photography that complexity of beauty evokes a passionate and where you least expect

it, in the simplest of moments, and to capture it viscerally or cogently with a personal, meaningful, and affirmed vision. It is more challenging to the artist to find something almost raw or esoteric about a subject as if discovering the subject’s arcanum, its secret wisdom, than to photograph for posterity at the expense of timelessness. Photography offers John a sense of therapeutic mindfulness and forgetfulness at the same time. He often focuses intensely on a subject and forgets the world around him. John’s entire being is lost and found in its value and pursuits. John also promotes a functional definition and practical philosophy of

photography known as “archistract” in his photography which is grounded in EAFA artist’s statement: Archistract - “A concept, philosophy, and classification of fine art photography that focuses on the abstract qualities of various architectural styles and subjects using monochrome or colour compositions while highlighting patterns, forms, geometry, and gradations of light and shadows across various exposures. ‘Archistract’ is a portmanteau of the words “architecture” and “abstract”. It is a style of abstract and architectural photography that has recently evolved into

a cohesive and functional vision combining elements and traditions found in abstract art, architecture, and photography as a whole.” John has also introduced a word in the lexicon of photography known as “oramagraphy” (which you can read more about on his website). “Orama” is a Greek word for “vision” with the emphasis on the “o” (O-rama). The term “oramagraphy” literally translates as “vision drawing” similar to photography which literally translates as “light drawing”.

Oramagraphy refers to a personal pursuit of vision in photography specific and original to the photographer but may lead the photographer to discover an inspirational vision or an innovative or prescient form of photography within the photography community and in the evolution of photography as an art form. In essence, this concept is about personal revolution for evolution in fine art photography.

commuter scenery in street photography

On ordinary days Kouji is one of company employees; therefore his photography is rooted in a daily scenery that is “commuter scenery” in the street photography. Based on the motif of “narrative photographs” including a story in a daily common scenery; however, which cannot be seen again. Placing importance on brief moment of such the scenery with people in it seen in , Kouji is daily challenging himself to take the images that express tender and delightful feelings of the people. With photography Kouji wants to express nostalgic feeling of his childhood. Therefore, the images that are not limited from the height of

the eye lines, using Live View without viewfinder such as low-angle shot, high-angle shot taken as if reaching up, are peculiar to his photography.

The image is a result taken at the moment using the Live View to express high-angle eye lines of about 2.0m and high-speed continuous drive.

One of Koujis photos is the image of a lady’s shadow running on a intersection, under black and white processing. It was taken at one of the major intersections in Shinjku, Tokyo. Kouji usually passes the intersection, but he was aiming at a unique scene because he found the shadows on the pavements were darker than usual. When a traffic signal light was turning red, a lady was running up squarely.

stream of city Dennis Kam Chuen Dung Hong Kong

Denis is a Hong Kong photographer; adores street photography especially in black and white, likes exploring the stories of the people and appreciates them telling him their own stories. Every person has their own story, it may be interesting, it may be humdrum life. The main point is the communication; photography is a bridge to communicate with other strangers. “I remember, I was a painter…” Every time Dennis takes a photo, the camera is his brush to create a painting (image). Many people said that it’s not the camera that makes beautiful images, it’s the photographer. This important conception reminds Dennis

thinking before taking a photo. The content is more important than the camera. The camera just records what you think or see. That is a purely subjective feeling. Rhythm of movement, contrast of objects...etc., all of them are the basic element in his photographs. The project “Stream of City” Hong Kong is a rush city, full of changes and contrasts.Dennis loves this city… This long term project “Stream of City” is expressing the people who live in a city, just like all of the big rush cities in the world not only in Hong Kong acting as the body of water, depending the road’s characteristics, flowing

in the different conduits (roads). A stream in the city not in nature, the more unrealistic image is, the more audience’s attention can be grabbed. Dennis captured them in a slow shutter speed to eliminate the human form. You can’t see the clear image of people but you sense that they are people. You don’t know the stream destination but you understand that the direction of the stream flowing. People transit from one area to other area, the movement shows the city is live, full of power, full of energy.

A city is a group of people living, working district, and no people, no city. The photographs were captured in the most crowded area in Hong Kong, such as MongKok, Central…etc., the photographs recorded the scene of these districts, those district were changed rapidly due to the development of the city, the photographs are the most telling witness about a city developing.

United Kingdom Mike got into photography in 2006 after trying a lot of other mediums but finding that he has no patience to see a project through to the end, he was fortunate in that digital photography fulfilled everything Mike needed, he could take images, edit them and feel good about the end result.

photographer’s spirit Mustafa Dedeoğlu Turkey

Mustafa was born in Istanbul, in 1978. Graduated from Industrial Engineering (Cyprus / EMU) and started taking photos six years ago. Mustafa thinks that to get a specific style does not mean taking repetitive photos of the same theme but reflecting the photographer’s spirit in each frame. It is great to develop own style and technic, but it’s most important to catch a scene at a different angle. And to do that one has to take more and more photos, not to hurry up, think how to reflect a moment in the most beautiful and different way. While Mustafa started as an amateur he is now a professional freelancer by direct sales through his official website. Earn-

ing money from photography has not made it necessary for him to sacrifice his idealistic standing. He has never taken or shot any scene solely for the purpose of being popular, if he doesn’t like the scene. Mustafa’s work usually attracts demand from abroad, and particularly european countries seem to be interest in his photography art. There are rare people in Turkey who would dare sparing a budget on artistic photography. Mustafa’s strongest inspiration in taking photos is his soul and it reflects in his photos. Whenever he feels strong and fresh, he usually takes street photos. However he tends to take minute fictive frames at his melancholic and emotional times.

In 2011, an organization in France offered Mustafa to exhibit and sell his photos to help poor children in Africa. Interviews and photos have been published in many websites and foreign magazines. Didier is an autodidact amateur photographer Belgian 36 years old. Very soon photography became a passion for him to see even an obsession. Didier discovered photography in 2006. He was immediately attracted by landscape photography in black and white and square format providing a plurality of compositions. Didier loves the minimalist compositions where he plays with lines and shapes. Most of his landscapes are done in low light in the rain or fog with long exposures that create a mysterious atmosphere.
