CGS Friends of Hockey

Friends of Hockey Our aim is to support the school, the coaches and the members of all hockey teams. Parents can play an important role in encouraging all members of hockey teams to achieve their full potential both individually and collectively. We want to provide meaningful support to the development squads and other teams, regardless of skill level. Just because a boy has not played hockey until Middle School does not mean that he will not be one of our future Olympians. Through social events we will endeavour to bring together all of the CGS hockey community. Each year we hold a welcome BBQ to launch the season for both boys and parents. This event includes a multi-year level round robin lightning tournament and skills competition. The round robin enables students new to hockey and those of all levels to play with and against members of the Firsts Hockey team. Friends of Hockey also offer support to the administration and coaching staff through subsidy of trips and maintenance of equipment to reduce the cost to the school. We also hope to foster stronger relationships with the local hockey clubs for the benefit of the school and hockey in Victoria. Finally, as part of defraying costs to players and the school we are happy to hear from anyone wishing to donate sticks and shin pads to be used in an equipment pool for new players as well as spares for team kits. Any excess will be donated to domestic and international charities. We are always interested in hearing from parents willing to participate in Friends of Hockey at any level.
