ümrük Meydanı'ndan batıya doğru bakış. Kartpostalda, kentin batı sınırını tanımlayan istasyonun uzantısında inşa edilen Mersin Limanı ve silo görülüyor. Mersin Limanı'nın inşa edildiği 1960 yılına kadar, kentte yükleme-boşaltma işlerinin gerçekleştirildiği irili ufaklı çok sayıda iskeleden birkaçının hala varlıklarını koruduğu ancak bu dönemde kıyı çizgisinin değişmeye başladığı izleniyor. Eskiden denizin hemen kıyısında yer alan ve kartpostalın sağ alt köşesinde kiremit çatıları görülen Gümrük Binası ek yapıları ile batı bitişiğindeki Mersin Ticaret Odası'nın denizden uzaklaşmaya başladıkları görülüyor.
look from the Custom Square to the east: on the postcard, the granary and Mersin Port, built on the extension of the Railway Station, defining the east edge of the city are seen. Until 1960, when Mersin Port was constructed, it is seen that a few of many large and small piers for embarkation and debarkation carried on their existence, however, in this period, the coastline began to change its place. The Custom House additional buildings that used to stand right in front of the coastline, of which the tiled roof is seen on the left side of the postcard, and the building of the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry become distant from the sea.

entin ticari yapısında önemli gelişmelere yol açacak olan Mersin Limanı, aynı zamanda kentin fiziksel yapısını da etkileyecek değişimleri beraberinde getiriyor.
entte hizmet veren çok sayıda iskelenin bulunmasına rağmen Mersin'in modern bir limana gereksinimi olduğu düşüncesi ile 1927 yılında, Mersin Liman İşleri İnhisarı adlı bir şirket kuruluyor. Ne var ki, şirketin liman inşaatına başlaması 1954 yılını buluyor. İnşaat 1961 yılında tamamlanıyor ve işlem hacmi ile günümüzde, İstanbul Haydarpaşa ve İzmir Limanı'nından sonra Türkiye'nin üçüncü büyük limanı olarak hizmet veriyor.

ersin Port would cause important improvements in the commercial structure of the city, also bring developments that affect its physical structure.
lthough there were many piers, serving to the city, with the thought of a need for a modern port, a firm called Mersin Port Affairs Monopoly was founded in 1927. However, the commencement of construction of the port was happened in 1954. The construction was finished in 1961 and at the present, the port is the third one in Turkey in terms of traded value after the Port of İstanbul Haydarpaşa and the Port of İzmir.
