Painting in the Spirit of Nature

creative Visual Arts Drawing for People Who Think They Can’t Uncover the drawing talent that lies right below the tips of your fingers! The ability to draw is common to everyone, not just the “gifted.” What enables one to draw well is the ability to see well. Learn to see the basic abstract elements of shape, then discover how to turn these abstractions into drawings. In the process, we will cover positive and negative space, contour drawing, composition, and design. Be prepared to have fun and be surprised at what you draw. There are many ways to capture the spirit of nature through drawing and painting. We will focus on freeing, abstract techniques using watercolor, ink, and pencil. Explore creative expression using texture, color, composition, and form inspired by images and objects from nature. If you would like to expand your experience of watercolor, break free in this experimental class. If your current technique is more realistic, these techniques will inspire and open you up to a new level of expression. Allow nature to be a springboard for creativity. Seeing and Painting Light Keys Monet is famous for his series paintings like the haystacks, poplars, water lilies, the Seine, and cathedrals. He showed us how they look at different times of day and in different weather conditions. He referred to each time frame and condition as the umbrella of light within which everything sits. By careful observation, he was able to bring out the specific colors created by the particular light of the moment. In this two-part class, you will learn the way of seeing that makes this color observation possible. You will paint a simple still life each day under different lighting in order to see how the color changes. u Chuck Ceraso (see Drawing for People Who Think They Can’t) > Sat, Sun 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm / Mar 9 – Mar 10 $159 / Chuck Ceraso’s Studio / 2 sessions
