An additional ten Policia Local officers were sworn in at the Town Hall yesterday morning – due to start duties from today, July 1 until the end of the year. Following last weeks horrific events in Sousse, Tunisia, it doesn´t come a day too soon. After each officer took an oath a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the innocent fallen holidaymakers.

OUT AND ABOUT

Dear Readers

vistacostablanca.com

Here we are in July already and all I can say is where on earth did June disappear to?... The weather is full on, I hate this "HEAT" except when talking about our radio station and then it's all ok to say how much we love it! So for now, let's keep the "HEAT" on as far as tuning into the best and most popular Hit Music Station in the Costa Blanca - but remember when you go out whack on the sun block and keep drinking loads of water as the forecast is advising everyone to be extremely cautious with the next phase of temperatures touching 40 degrees.. Ouch that's really not nice....

In the meantime, I would like to say thanks to everyone who came to visit us at the Mintt Beach Bar in Javea last Friday. It really was a fun afternoon and for our first summer fiesta party with Heat FM in association with the the Weekly Buzz Newspaper, we were extremely happy with the response. We had loads of prizes to give away from our business advertisers, this included sunglasses from Specsavers, a smart phone from Blu and lots more, so please read the full story on page 8 also together with photos and story of our other live event broadcast from the International Fair in Javea, which was a tremendous experience to see just how big this event really is, as well as the amount of people involved from the local area supporting this massive annual attraction.

We have more summer fun to come with events in Benidorm, Albir and Altea during July and August. We can't wait to do it all again on the 11th of this month, where we will be at The Vincent's Pub Plaza in Rincon Benidorm, see the poster on page 20, we will be supporting MABS cancer support fund in the HEAT FM summer roadshow fiesta.

Also, don't forget you can also listen live to Heat FM on the web site www.heatfmspain.com or search for the App on your mobile. Every weekday you can take part in our daily competitions and most of all get to hear the very latest hits with the best hit music from all of the past decades.

Please don't forget that If you are involved in any organisation or charity or if you can tell us about any local events, charity fundraising especially or if there are any summer BBQ's going on please tell us about it! email buzz@vistacostablanca.com

BOY DIES FROM DIPHTHERIA By Spencer Williams

A six-year-old boy has died from diphtheria in Spain’s first case of the disease since 1987.

The boy from Olot, near Girona, had been fighting the disease since the end of May at a hospital in Barcelona, he was suffering respiratory, heart and kidney complications and had been kept alive on machines.

He had not been vaccinated against the highly contagious disease, Nine other children and one adult were exposed to the

bacteria but did not develop Diphtheria, which mostly affects the nose and throat, because they had all been vaccinated.

The case has sparked a furious debate in Spain over the growing number of parents who chose not to vaccinate their children against preventable childhood illnesses.

The parents spoke out about their "terrible guilt" as they decided not to have their child immunized and said they "felt cheated" by the anti-vaccination movement.

SPORTING CRICKET CLUB, 1ST X1 146 FOR 9 LOST TO PINATAR C C 159 FOR 10

Another hot summers day, and a friendly game was arranged versus the newly formed Pinatar Pirates CC which consists mainly of ex La Manga players.

Skipper Pennick lost the toss and ended up fielding in the 35 degree heat and as a sporting gesture let PPCC play with 12. An Early Breakthrough brought together the Spanish Internationals Mohib and Sajed which quickly got the visitors to 50 before Sajeed fell to a straight one from Mohib on 18. Pennick and Taylor stemmed the run flow

before the old pro suckered the Pirates into picking out Munoz in the Deep on 2 occasions.

On came Shazard and had the pirates all over the place with Farat wafting at a few before creaming one to Pennick and to the disbelieve of everyone and including the incoming Batsman claimed a Bump Ball?????? Roper came back at the top end to clean up the Rabbits with 2 straight deliveries.159 all out was a good strong performance in the field and a great come back when the game was going away.

Brook soon followed trying to walk an easy single before stopping twice and getting run out. Crompton easily the man of the match put on 50 with Munoz, before Munoz was caught of his arm guard and blaming the bat for not sweeping as well as his last one? Gary Crompton scored a classy 50 and game looked won with 3 an over needed before he gave his wicket away.

4 overs of blocking then saw the SACC batsman all give catching practice to the opposition. Fireman Ward hobbled in, then got the 999 call so dashed back off, sadly little dashing in his innings as he snicked off.

With too many needed and the Home captain coming in at 9, winning the game was a long way off, but a few blows and a 6 was not quite enough to get his side home. A very poor display from a top order was not good enough. Alfas lost by 14 runs.

CALPE ROCK CLOSED The Department of Environment has closed the access to the summit of the Peñon de Ifach due to safety concerns. There had been plans to improve the path up to the summit but at this moment those plans have not been put into motion. Instead the council has built a stone wall and placed a metal door blocking the path, so now hikers can only enjoy a short stretch of the path up to the viewpoint of Cavanilles.

The path has been left to deteriorate with the last major investment made back in 2005, but with an average of around 350 walkers a day and lack of investment the route has become increasingly dangerous.

Signs for the route have been removed and although there is a wall and gate, hikers are bypassing the warnings and continuing on the hike, families with children have also been spotted past the gate which at this

MAKING A SPLASH By Spencer Williams

Last week we told you about the increased amount of sightings of whales and dolphins thanks to all our smart gizmos and gadgets and here is another example.

Check out the video on our Facebook Page www.facebook.com/ TheBuzzNewspaper

Last week a video of a Sei whale (Rorcual whale in Spanish) making a big splash appeared on the Xàbia Meravellosa Jávea Maravillosa Facebook page and was shared over 1000 times on this page alone.

The video was taken on a boat along the Javea shoreline, it only last 16 seconds but is well worth a watch!

The eastern coast of Spain is becoming well known for sightings of marine life, so keep your eyes peeled. The Sei whale can measure between 18 and 25 meters and is always special to see these amazing animals jump out of the water.

UK AND FOREIGN INVESTORS DRIVE SPAIN'S PROPERTY MARKET RECOVERY

Spain's property market is enjoying a foreign currencydriven recovery, new research showed.

UK, the Middle East, Asia and and the US, as Spain's real estate sector has been made even more appealing by the depreciation of the euro. The market has also benefited from the introduction of a so-called "Golden Visa" in 2013, which offers residency to those prepared to invest at least €500,000 in the property sector, with 490 visas issued from September 2013 to the end of 2014, mainly to buyers hailing from Russia, China and the Middle East.

The sector, one of the country's worst-performing areas since the real estate crisis of 2008 dragged the Spanish economy into the doldrums, has received a new lease of life recently, thanks to wealthy foreign investors. According to figures released by Spain's registrars society and published by the Financial Times, the number of foreign nationals who have bought property in the Mediterranean country rose 3.2% to 12.2% between 2006 and the first quarter of this year.

The impact is particularly evident in the luxury market, with properties in posh areas such as Pedralbes and the Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, and Salamanca and Chamberí in Madrid, having already recovered 20% of the value they lost during the financial crisis, when home prices tumbled by 35% between 2007 and 2013. “At the high end — €500,000 and up — it’s primarily being driven by international demand,” Alex Vaughan,

who in 2005 co-founded Lucas Fox, a Barcelona-based luxury estate agent, was quoted as saying by the newspaper. Investors in the Spanish property market come from the

According to the report, of the €10.2bn invested in commercial real estate in Spain last year, half came directly from foreign funds, with a further €2.5bn coming from Socimis — real estate investments that can be traded like shares on financial exchanges — which are heavily backed by foreign investors.

“With their arrival three years ago, opportunistic international funds managers made a market at a time when we had hit bottom,” Patricio Palomar, director of research at CBRE Spain told the Financial Times.

Bar Domino

Restaurante Borgo Antico

Reviewed 28 June 2015 Went here on our last visit. Have never had such an amazing welcome. Food is amazing and really good value for money. A must visit next time you are in the old town

Reviewed 27 June 2015 We are back at home tired, and so we decided to go in this italian restaurant, the restaurant has a warm atmosphere, the waiter is a gentleman and the spaghetti with seafood was excellent and too much to eat all !!! the zabaione was very nice. sure we will come back !!! graci mille.

Carrer San Miguel 12 | Carrer Martinez Oriola 15, Benidorm “Fab”

“Food in the evening is most welcome”

Reviewed 20 June 2015 The new evening menu at Bar domino is very good, there are lots of restaurants in the area doing 3 course dinners however this was something different whence you want a lighter meal. Andrew was the perfect host, serving drinks, taking orders and cooking the food with a friendly professional disposition with not too long a wait. I had the Jumbo hot dog sausage with plenty of chips and it was not like a hot dog you get from a van, this was something extra special and I would defiantly go back and have another. The bar has a nice ambience with some good English telly on, but not too loud so you can still chat to your friends.

“New Snack menu proved a MUST”

Reviewed 13 June 2015 Three of us visited one evening at 1800 - had attended for breakfast earlier in the week and were impressed so wanted to try the evening chef - Andy. Menu available not as much, however, due to him being alone, he provided exceptional service. Hotdogs and Chicken burgers were delicious and the chips were moreish. Great to go if only wanting a one course rather the typical three courses you can get. Oh, and nice to be able to have ITV / BBC on in the background

“Cheery staff, good service”

Reviewed 9 June 2015 Visited this bar each day of my recent holiday for breakfast. Excellent service and food.this bar is situated up a little side street, with two or three tables outside, ideal for chilling, either after breakfast, or early evening. I also had one of their cheese toasties which I'm pleased to say was made with real tasty cheese, instead of that plastic tasteless stuff which is readily available in other eateries. The staff are cheery and efficient, and the toilets, along with the bar, are spotless. Just thought this holiday I would try a different place, and wasn't disappointed. Worth a wee visit, even if just for a cheese toastie!!! Oh, and I'm told they have a pretty good quiz of a Monday night, maybe next time then.

Calle Delfin 2 | Edificio Damara, Calpe “Bello Bello Bello!”

“Very good Very good Very good!!!”

Reviewed 25 June 2015 Fabiola was so helpful with us, the spaghetti with seafood were fantastic, also the ravioli has been the best I ever ever eat!!! the We'll back surely. About the pizza Fabiola said me to go to moraira at the magia pizzería...

“Food handcrafted with love...”

Reviewed 22 June 2015 Amazing place, great handmade / delicate food.... authentic pure italian restaurant... Great service and atmosphere. The best italian place in the whole area! Highly recommended!

“Real authentic Italian food.”

Reviewed 10 June 201 This little restaurant is a gem. The pasta was cooked fresh, the ingredients were fresh, and the taste was nothing less than exceptional. Very happy to of found this place. Will travel to Calpe again purely for this restaurante. A+ service too which was a very nice change from the rest.

“Amazing Food”

Reviewed 6 June 2015 Everything was absolutely exceptional. The delicious food and excellent service create an amazing atmosphere. We will definitely come back!!!

“What a Surprise”

Reviewed 17 April 2015 Although we have been visiting Calpe for 35 years we had never tried this restaurant. The new owners are Italian and very welcoming. There is an interesting Menu del dia at lunchtime but it's mainly a la carte for dinner however there is a seafood special which we tried. This was amazing. Starter of plump delicious prawns in a brandy sauce. The waitress then rearranged the table to make space for a 'big dish'!! A vast mound of seafood arrived - so much that we could hardly see the spaghetti underneath! Clams, mussels, prawns and half a lobster each - it was a feast! This menu includes a desert and a bottle of wine and is 32 euros each which sounds expensive but is really good value! Allow plenty of time for cracking open the claws though.

Baby-pig low temperature cooked with Apple, Spanish beef tenderloin , octopus with potato- so tender and taste just perfect Mini- burger - enrich the taste of burger with foie gras

We love every single dish here, would love to try more however those filled us up. Sangria is good too. Reasonable price with superb quality of food. Will surely come back on our next visit, we gonna miss this place so much .

“As good as it gets”

Reviewed 20 May 2015 Hats off to the owner/ operators/ chef's here. Atmosphere is authentic and charming. Out waiter who was running the upstairs was named Thomas and he was very accommodating. The wine selection was like the food offerings, varied and excellent w local offerings. Thomas recommended a local Chardonnay, unoaked and most excellent. We started w the truffle and mushroom coquettes. One bite told me this was the place I had been searching for since arriving in Spain! The second course of scallop crudo w lime sorbet and micro herbs was not only totally sublime but also an incredible presentation. These dishes are not to be missed. Thomas brought us a glass of lovely deep bodied fruity red wine to compliment the baby roast pig w arugula and apple. Another huge hit. We finished w another croquette of mushroom and truffle followed by the pig cheek which was yet another simply amazing dish. The prices were incredibly reasonable. The memory of this meal will last a lifetime. We greatly appreciate your dedication and passion. If you are ever In The west coast of Florida I would love to show you what we are doing w wild pig and seafood at our three waterfront restaurants. I am sorry we are leaving today. Reviewed 12 May 2015 We like to start here early with tapas then you don't have to book a table. The dishes are nice. The staff friendly. Over the last few weeks concrete barriers have been installed in the center of coast road between Calpe and Moraira (Avenida Marina) the barriers have been placed to stop motorists going too fast around corners and crossing over the solid white line, the area is a hot spot for accidents and the aim is to reduce the risk of further incidents. The barriers are welcomed by many local residents and businesses who have expressed that it is much safer, however there has been a negative response

on social media with many saying they will cause more accidents than stop them. The road is already quite narrow and with the new barriers in the center of the road it has reduced the road width even more which has led to a few problems with large vehicles that take this route such as buses, Victoria Raistrick posted on Facebook a photograph of a bus having a hard time going round one of the tight bends. There has also been damage to some of curbs which may have been caused by another large vehicle.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23rd-December 21st)

The only way you’ll get to the bottom off a situation that’s been troubling you, is to take your time and keep digging until you strike gold. Focus. You’ve got what it takes to keep moving forward positively, but it’ll be more of a challenge than it has been in the past. Stay calm.

CAPRICORN (December 22nd-January 20th)

Work matters will have you on the run this week, so make sure you have plenty of early nights as you’ll need to conserve your energy. That means you wont have much time for socialising for the moment, but it’s a sacrifice you’re happy to make to get thigngs moving. AqUARIUS (January 21st-February 19th)

You now seem to be surrounded by positive influences, making the start of this working week the ideal time to push yourself to the limit intellectually and intimately. You wont know what you’re capable of achieving until you try, so go out on a limb and give it your best shot.

PISCES (February 20th-March 20th)

With everything to play for now, you know you need to put in the maximum effort in all things. You’re putting in so much time and energy into work matters that superiors can’t fail to see your efforts. Do the same over relationships and friendships are you’ll be golden.

Jeremy Clarkson Takes a Land Rover Discovery Sport Jibe at Spanish Motors T h e L a t e s t B U Z Z f r o m t h e M o t o r i n g Wo r l d

A recent review by Clarkson of a the Spanish made SEAT Leon X-Perience, faced an angry backlash from Spaniards and the Spanish Embassy in London as well after the former Top Gear host sterotypically condemmed the car which is one of Spain's biggest exports. Clarkson’s car review in the Sunday Times, entitled Does this Spanish fly? No, it’s a homage to catatonia was far from complimentry, but thats not where it ended, as well as slating the car and manufacturer he turned his attention on the nation of Spain itself.

Clarkson started off with labelling the new SEAT Leon as a ‘lukewarm paella’, Clarkson said he had never driven a SEAT because he ‘never saw the point’. (This was actually an inaccurate styatemnt , as pointed out by Twitter user @jorch_garcia. "SEAT wasn’t created by one man with a vision and a passion for speed, beauty, and power. replaced in September 2015 with a new, British-built 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine.

The four-cylinder Ingenium is a huge step up from the 2.2 diesel. The TD4, with 150PS, will return 129g/km of CO2 and close to 58mpg according to the official figures.

On the road the Discovery Sport feels capable and fun, with plenty of grip in the corners and plenty of torque. We'd recommend the automatic gearbox over the manual, as it's smooth with near seamless gear changes. The four-wheel drive system is identical to the one found in the Evoque and linked to Land Rover's excellent Terrain Response system, which means the Discovery Sport is more than capable off road. In fact, it's better than any of its rivals when it comes to tackling mud or snow.

Freelander owners will no doubt baulk at the upmarket price, with entry-level models costing more than £30,000, while highspec models will venture deep into £40,000 territory. Yet, even after factoring the new pricing strategy, the Discovery Sport still has huge appeal, with plenty of refinement, sophistication and outstanding off-road ability.

TEETH WHITENING - 2ND WEEK

Two weeks ago we wrote about the about desire many of us have for that "Hollywood Smile".

This week we have asked local Dentist Dr. Canega for his expert views on the various processes. How they work and any risks involved.

Bleaching

Bleaching is whitening beyond the natural. Getting a brighter smile though can come at a painful price. If you choose to use a bleaching product, you should only do so after consultation with a dentist.

This is especially important for patients with many fillings, crowns, and extremely dark stains. A thorough oral examination, performed by a licensed dentist, is essential to determine if bleaching is an appropriate course of treatment.

In addition to tooth sensitivity, ranging from the mild to the extreme, dentists report seeing side effects that include gum irritation, (although we call it "irritation" this, for some, can also be very painful) bluish enamel, uneven whiteness, and—if the chemical manages to seep into a cracked tooth or an unfilled cavity—painful internal damage that can lead to a root canal.

Home bleaching is absolutely not recommended by the vast majority of dentists due to over bleaching which the client can not control or in contrary not would get the sufficient expected whitening effect. Our difficulty as dentists is we have to pick up the pieces for the clients who have experienced these problems.

al products, gum tissues are protected either by isolation with a rubber dam or application of a gel.

Veneers : another option to get a long term desired tooth shade. It s this method that t is this method that many would used to really get the desired effect. A cover, veneer, is placed over the teeth to give the shade a client wants. Consult with you dentist regarding this method. Or indeed any method.

Remember, although teeth whitening can give desired result for some it doesn't mean that this process should be repeated as routine treatment when it needs to keep a bright white smile. All whitening techniques and products results at the end by a chemical reaction. The outcome can be quiet relevant and differs individually from one to another person.) As always you should always take advise from a professional before considering or embarking any of these process.

Dr. Canega has a practice with the latest technology situated in La Nucia just off the CV70 between roundabouts 1 and 2.

For an appointment Call the surgery on 966236130. The first consultation is FREE. Dr. Canega also has an extremely detailed website giving information regarding all aspects of different treatments and dental problems and solutions. Check this out at www.nordicdentalsmile.com

Laser or Light activated treatment:

There are many professionally applied tooth bleaching products used by dentists in practice. These products use hydrogen peroxide in concentrations ranging from 25 percent to 40 percent and are sometimes used together with a light or laser, which the companies state accelerate or activate the whitening process. However, most studies have reported no additional longterm benefit with lightactivated systems. Prior to application of profession-

Symptoms of heat rash on dogs and heat rash on cats - Heat rashes on dogs and cats mainly appear on the gentle skin in the abdominal region, on the backside, in the folds of the skin, under the neck and tail or near the pet’s ears. Often, pet owners have mistaken the heat rash on dogs and heat rash on cats to be due to fleas or other parasitic infestations. However, heat rashes are mainly a result of Staphylococcus pathogen aggravated by hot and humid environmental conditions. A heat rash on one’s pet can begin as a minor skin irritation where the dog or cat might scratch frequently; but very soon it can transform into an oozing, red rash that may be accompanied by pimples, boils, scabs and a bad odor.

In case of a heat rash on dogs, the animal may bite, lick or even chew the site of the rash frequently. This can lead to worsening of the condition and, if overlooked, may lead to extensive hair loss or bleeding and open wounds. Furry dogs (or even hairless dogs like the Chinese Crested that has tufts of hair all over its body) are more prone to heat rashes in the summer months. Heat rash on a cats chin

Likewise, a heat rash on cats can begin as bumps or red blotches on the skin that may be pus filled or oozing. Apart from these red blotches, cat owners have also

Treating heat rash on dogs and heat rash on cats Before rushing off to buy some over the counter products for treating such skin infections on your pet, make sure you have your pet examined by an experienced vet (or a dermatologist). Leicester City Sack Nigel Pearson

Nigel Pearson has been sacked as manager of Leicester despite keeping the Foxes in the Premier League last season.

Pearson took charge at the King Power Stadium for the second time in November 2011 and presided over promotion in the 2013-14 season to the top-flight, where they finished a respectable 14th in their maiden campaign after a brilliant run of results in the final weeks.

Leicester City spent 140 days from November to April at the bottom of the Premier League table and escaped relegation with a remarkable run of seven wins in nine matches to end the season.

CECH’D OUT The 33-year-old goalkeeper brought to an end an 11-year spell with the Blues after falling behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Highlighting his desire to stay in the Premier League and thanking staff and supporters for their work together over the years, Cech posted the message on social media as his transfer was announced.

"I thought this would never happen but it is time for me to say goodbye to Chelsea. The club I have lived every single minute for since joining in July 2004, the club in which I thought I'd hang my gloves and boots one day and finish my career. But life doesn't always turn out the way you think it will.

The long letter finishes off thanking Chelsea and wishing them the best for the future.

"I wish everybody at Chelsea all the best for the new season and for the future. Thank you for an incredible 11 years."

The current goalkeeper situation at the Emirates Stadium has now taken a new turn following the move, with Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina still at the club. Pole Szczesny currently wears the number one shirt while Colombian Ospina is currently Wenger’s first choice.
