Towneley’s Art Gallery
...through the eyes of children!
Towneley art gallery is a fun place and has various paintings. The children in year 5 St John’s RC Primary School visited the gallery and have been working on a project. We have worked together to create a child’s guide to the gallery. Many of these paintings are old and have been painted with oils. If you look closely at them you will see the story they tell. Next to the painting there will be information about the artist and the painting. We hope you enjoy the gallery as much as we did.

A Venetian Christening Party I like this painting because it looks realistic very detailed is interesting because the painting’s nice and there’s lots of difference about. This makes me special as a Christian also this is a very detailed painting The name of the artist is Henry Woods. He was born on the 22nd April 1846 and sadly passed away on 27th October 1921 (75 years old). He painted the Venetian painting in 1896 – when he was 50. He also painted 24 different major paintings that were really famous at the time of his presence.
