LUNG Take a deep breath as we introduce you to Cardiff’s finest:

ung is 20 year old drum’n’bass & dubstep producer, James Ellaway. Back in 2009 he was spotted by dubstep label ‘Kokeshi’ who signed his first release “Afterlife”. This single got some serious attention and has since featured on 4 separate compilations. The dubstep scene continued to breathe life into “Afterlife” with the single receiving remix treatment on from none other than KRYPTIC MINDS. Lung is destined for great things with his music receiving DJ support from MARY ANNE HOBBS, ANNIE MAC, NU:TONE & HIGH CONTRAST.

The Hospital Record camp have acknowledged the talent in this producer and decided to sign Lung to their little sister label, Med School, he has now secured production collaborations with High Contrast and remix duties for London Elektricity along the way, making 2011 Lung’s biggest year yet. With a penchant for global pop and psychedelic tribal beats, RAINBOW ARABIA have caught ears across the world. Inspiration for their debut album was found in between future-thinking contemporary club music (techno, hip-hop, dubstep) and the organic globe-trekking dance music of the last century (reggae, ragas, gamelan). Add an affection for 80s synth-pop and gothic influences like LOVE AND ROCKETS and OMD, and you have an interesting recipe that is utterly unclassifiable as it is repeatedly listenable.

He started home recording in the 60s and releasing in the 70s, then a relentless nutjob stream of cassettes and CDRs followed: FREAK POP, MANGLED AOR, BOSSA NOVA, DOO-WOP, SPEAK & SPELL ELECTRONICS, BEATLES COVER ALBUMS – over 400 albums in all, thousands of songs coated in cranky, primitivist bedroom experimentalism. FEED THE DJ is a completely new concept. No longer do you have to sit and listen to what the DJ wants to play. You now Feed The DJ. Any style of music is cool, it’s all about YOU. You give the DJ a memory stick of tunes before 8pm (at least an hour’s worth), you book a timeslot (first come first served), the DJ plays your tunes for the hour, during which time you and your party get drinks promos for that hour. The DJ mix is then polished, uploaded online the next day, and you’re given instructions to download your own personal mix.
