The Best Is Yet To Come ach year this report is presented to you for essentially two purposes. On its face, this document is an accounting of the generosity of those who share the vision which Columbus State is pursuing – namely to serve the educational needs of students and citizens at large who find themselves within the touch of CSU. We encourage you to peruse these pages, discovering the breadth and depth of your university's programs and marveling, with us, at the magnificient display of support which we, as your instrument of service, enjoy!

Secondly, this report is developed so that we can, in some small way, express our unending thanks to those who not only share the vision but also share the journey of a public university which strives to broaden its reach, sharpen its focus and gather beneath its wings those whose lives can literally be changed by association with this band of scholars and public servants. CSU is, and has been, Columbus' university, a condition which has lifted our people and expanded our horizons as a community.

The successes chronicled in this material are made possible by the partnerships you and we have formed. As CSU moves into a transition in its leadership, we know you will remain a valued member of our community. “His service to CSU, his generosity, his guidance and his support have played a pivotal role in the growth of the university and its impact on the community,” CSU President Frank Brown told a crowd of more than 100 who attended the Jan. 24 groundbreaking of the $9 million, 37,700-square foot Schuster Student Success Center.

Devoted to developing future generations of leaders, the Schuster Center is named for the Schuster family in recognition of its generous gift to the university’s capital campaign and for dedicated leadership, commitment and support of the university for more than 20 years.

Among the building’s future occupants are CSU programs that have much to do with producing successful students, including the Servant Leadership Program, Honors Program, Counseling Center, Career Center and Center for Academic Support and Student Retention.

"What touches me the most is that this building will be dealing with success and dealing with quality of life and dealing with servant leadership," said Schuster, who achieved success by developing one of the nation’s largest Burger King franchise groups, with dozens of stores in From left, Marvin Schuster, CSU President Frank Brown, University College Dean Beverly Davis, SGA Georgia and Alabama.

Completion of the building is expected in 2009. “(This building) is being dedicated to improve the quality of life of students,” Student Government Association President Alex students’ lives for a long time. Although these organizations operate exclusively to

Foundation Properties, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization incorporated for the exclusive purpose of holding title to property and collecting the income therefrom for the benefit of CSU. The Alumni Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that offers programs to inform university alumni about the life and vitality of the university and to promote and advance the interests of the university through support of university programs, instructional equipment purchases and scholarships.

CSU Day volunteers ended their January 2007 kickoff breakfast by selecting prospective donors to call on for the annual campaign.

The Columbus State University Athletic Fund, Inc. The Athletic Fund, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization created for the purpose of promoting the educational and athletic programs of the university. This purpose is met by providing assistance and funds for encouraging participation by selected students in intercollegiate games and contests.

Helping frame the future The Shannon Society The Shannon Society recognizes individuals, foundations and other entities who have established endowed and/or restricted funds for scholarships, faculty chairs, academic units, and programs or initiatives that enhance and support excellence at Columbus State University. In 1958, Columbus College opened its doors to 265 students in a building that originally housed the Shannon Hosiery Mill. The Shannon Society honors the leaders whose vision and generosity established the university and ushered in a new era for education.
