Neighbors Bring Brunswick County Together

We all love Brunswick County, with its beauty, beaches, and amenities. But sometimes these amenities become inaccessible for older adults. That’s why Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) is reaching out.

N2N is a nonprofit organization that works diligently to promote independence, relieve isolation, and connect homebound adults to their community.

Three Programs

N2N offers three primary programs: • N2N Rides offers transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacy visits and other errands.

Need a haircut, or have an important appointment?

Volunteers from N2N can help, with a little notice: please let us know at least three business days in advance when you need a ride. N2N remained available to transport clients when other transportation services were closed due to COVID.

• Volunteers for N2N Connect make calls to our homebound adult community, helping to provide community and a sense of belonging. • N2N Pantry makes deliveries from local food pantries directly to seniors’ homes. For example, N2N volunteers pick up food boxes from BSRI’s onsite pantries in Leland,

Southport, and Shallotte, and drop boxes off to the clients.

A Community of Neighbors

N2N programs work to replace isolation with a sense of community. N2N is building a caring network of resources and community agencies, including Brunswick Senior Resources, Inc. BSRI partners with N2N to assist homebound clients in Brunswick County through delivery of needed supplies including food boxes, incontinence products, Boost, and other essential supplies.

Homebound clients contact BSRI case managers with requests for basic supplies, and these requests are entered into the N2N system. N2N volunteers are local residents who pick up the identified supplies at the senior centers and deliver to the clients. The support of N2N has allowed BSRI to reach many individuals in the community who may otherwise go without and also provides a social connection to prevent isolation.
