Putter Jarvis selected TRC chair The Board of Directors of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Putter Jarvis of Landmark Life will serve as the Chairman of the organization’s second annual Total Resource Campaign. Throughout the United States, Total Resource Campaigns (TRC’s) are gaining support and popularity among progressive chambers of commerce and have been embraced by Chamber Members, board leadership and staff because of the beneficial nature of the campaign. The TRC is designed to give Chamber members numerous opportunities to become more involved with the Chamber on various levels through greater public awareness of Chamber programs, projects and events. In addition, the TRC makes it easier for businesses to budget for the coming year and helps improve the efficiency of Chamber-sponsored events. When Chamber officials approached Jarvis about the concept of the Total Resource Campaign, he readily agreed to serve as the Chairman, stating, “That makes a lot of sense for both the Chamber and its members.” Jarvis, who has previously served as the Chamber’s Chairman of the Board, continued, “ This is the opportunity for Chamber Members to see the litany of programs and projects that the Chamber is involved in and then to select one or more that they would like to sponsor. In this way, they are not only members but they are laboring on behalf of truly making Brownwood a place that ‘Feels like Home’!” The Total Resource Campaign reviews

and evaluates current Chamber programs and develops a menu of sponsorship opportunities tailored to fit any budget, big or small. Over a seven-week period, beginning February 7, more than 50 local volunteers (working in teams) will work with Chamber members to design an ideal sponsorship plan for the entire year. The TRC is designed to be fun and exciting for team members with rewards available throughout the campaign and grand prizes for winning teams and their Team Captains. Although most teams will be comprised of representatives from various companies or organizations, Corporate Teams are encouraged and have enjoyed tremendous success in campaigns held in other locations. Chamber Members who are interested in serving as a Team Captain or volunteer are asked to contact Missi Malone, Director of Member Services by calling 325-646-9535 or email membership@brownwoodchamber.org.

Organizers for the area’s National Night Out event that was held in October 2011 received an award for their efforts on Tuesday, January 10th at the Brownwood City Council meeting. The National Association of Town Watch recently announced that Brownwood had received the award which was presented by Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes to Brownwood Police Crime Prevention Officer Chandra Means and Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing

Manager Ray Tipton. “I can’t tell you how many people have said something to me about how much they enjoyed National Night Out,” Haynes said. “It’s an evening for people in our community to get together to meet one another and help promote public safety.” During the 2011 National Night Out in Brown County, over 50 block parties were held in back yards, streets, parks, apartments and driveways in Brownwood, Early, Bangs, and areas of the

county. City officials, law enforcement officers, fire departments, and EMS traveled to the block parties around the county. This was the second year the area has participated in the event. Local sponsors for the county’s National Night Out included Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers, WT Harris Company, ATMOS Energy, Oncor Electric Delivery, Southside Church, TexasBank, and Waldrop Construction.
