McCoy’s Building supply serving the Born-to-Build for 85 Years. McCoy’s is one of the largest family-owned suppliers of lumber, building supplies and farm and ranch equipment in America. Started in 1927 as a roofing company in Houston, McCoy’s has evolved from a small, onestore operation into a regional corporation with 83 stores located throughout five states. Hurricane Carla hit the Texas Gulf Coast in 1961, causing millions of dollars worth of damage. While many businesses engaged in opportunistic pricing in that period, Emmett McCoy refused to take advantage of his customers, establishing McCoy’s commitment to its communities, a standard to which the company still holds today.

For 85 years, McCoy’s has worked to deal fairly with all whose lives we touch. For McCoy’s ethical business practices are not an afterthought or a learned technique, but rather, the only way to do business. McCoy’s offers products that our customers need, at a price they can afford, while providing exceptional service by knowledgeable employees. McCoy’s customers have a passion for building. They aren’t just good with their hands. They’re good with their heads, too. And they know that McCoy’s understands their business, their hobbies and their lifestyles better than any other building supplier. McCoy’s. Go Build Something.

The luncheon, which is open to members and guests, will feature an interesting program and will also include door prizes, introduction of new members and the “Aces Wild” Cash Drawing—which currently stands at around $300. didates.) Chamber CEO Laura Terhune has been working with Republican Party Chairman Brad Locker to identify and invite the candidates for the various local offices, such as Sheriff, County Commissioners, Water Improvement District Board and more. According to Terhune, “We feel it is important for our members and guests to have an opportunity to meet the candidates for the local public offices which have an impact on our daily lives right here in Brown County.” She continued, “The Chamber occasionally takes official

positions on specific issues, but we will not endorse a party or individual candidates for office.” With approximately 20 candidates invited to the luncheon, depending on the number who actually attend, speaking times will be limited to 2-3 minutes per candidate. Terhune stated, “It’s not a lot of time, but each candidate should be able to briefly articulate their experience, qualifications for the position as well as their top priority should they be elected.” She concluded, “It is my hope that candidates and our attendees will

come early or stay late in order to speak with candidates more in-depth.” This month’s luncheon is sponsored by Home Depot. Door Prize Sponsor is Sue’s Backyard. The cost of the luncheon is $12 per person to be paid at the door. Anyone interested in attending the luncheon is urged to RSVP to the Chamber by calling 325-646-9535. you can also register online on the Chamber’s website: www. brownwoodchamber.org.

Welcome New Chamber Board Members David Robnett

Jill Evans

David was born and grew up in Dallas. Since his father grew up in Brownwood, many summers and weekends during David’s childhood were spent here with his grandparents, F.Y. and Elizabeth Robnett. His grandfather, F.Y. was a professor at Howard Payne University. David’s Great Great Grandfather was John David Robnett, founder of Howard Payne University. David graduated from SMU with a B.A. in Business in 1984. He began his career in Advertising but quickly moved into insurance. David has been an agent for the past 24 years, working in the Dallas area until 1995 when he and his wife Cindy moved to Brownwood to start an Allstate agency. During his time with Allstate, David earned several honors and awards from that organization. In January, 2012, David made a decision to become an Independent Agent. David is active in his church and community, serving on committees and boards for both. He has served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club. David is currently the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 14 and a Trustee for Howard Payne University. David had been married for 22 years to Cindy Robnett. Cindy is a Independent Agency Territorial Sales Consultant with Allstate Insurance company. She has been with Allstate for 27 years. They have two children, Chandler (age 16) and Connor (age 11). David said, “Having spent many happy summers in Brownwood in my youth, I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to raise my family here and to build a successful business in Brownwood. I look forward to serving on the Brownwood Area Chamber Board. I want to give back to the community that has given me and my family so much.”

When she first moved to Brownwood, Jill Evans worked with the Infant and Toddler Head Start program helping to get it started, staffed and operational. Soon thereafter, she joined the Chamber as the director of events and member services at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. Jill left the Chamber seven years ago to work in the home-health field serving the rural areas of Central Texas. Just a few months ago, she was hired by the Family Services Center as the Volunteer/ Outreach Coordinator. She is married to Eric, and they have three grown children. They are very active in the Southside Church. In addition, Jill has served on the Boards of Good Samaritan Ministries, Brownwood Civic Improvement Foundation, Early Chamber of Commerce as well as Leadership Brownwood. Evans stated, “I am excited to be able to serve on the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The BACC is an active and impactful organization and a driving force within the Brownwood/Early area. To help represent the non-profit organizations of Central Texas and their desire to meet the needs and grow the quality of life is one of my goals as a Board member.” She concluded, “Having served on various non-profit Boards as well as current position at Family Services Center I believe will help bring a positive, knowledgeable perspective in my role on the BACC Board of Directors. I look forward to the ride and will work hard to be up to the task.”

Chip Camp Chip Camp accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer with Brownwood Regional Medical Center in July, 2011. He was born Claude E.
