BOISE STATE TENURE (2009-present) Candy Murphy enters her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Bronco volleyball program. Murphy’s responsibilities for the program in addition to coaching include: recruiting coordinator, assists with scouting, ordering equipment and apparel, and training the outside hitters. In three seasons with the Broncos, Murphy has helped the program to a 45-49 record, improving from an 8-22 record in 2009 to a 21-12 record in 2010. She has also helped develop Boise State volleyball into a record setting program, earning the most all-conference team season nods ever by the Broncos in 2009 (three second-team and one freshman team) awards. The team also produced one first-team honoree and two second-team honorees in 2010. In addition, Alisha Young and Sadie Maughan earned WAC Player of the Week honors in 2010, becoming the first Broncos to do so since 2006. Murphy joined the Bronco coaching staff in August 2009 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the spring 2009 semester. Murphy now has 12 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience as well as extensive experience in coaching and directing Junior Olympic club teams in the Boise area.

PREVIOUS COACHING EXPERIENCE In 2007 and 2008, Murphy was the Boise River Volleyball Club director where she has managed and directed 15 coaches as well as 10 to 13 teams. There she oversaw training; organized camps, tryouts and practices; as well as managed the budget.

In her first experience as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at the NCAA Division I level, Murphy was a part of the coaching staff at California State University - Sacramento for nine seasons (1993-99, 2001-02). There she was able to help her team to three Big Sky Conference titles and three post-season appearances. During her hiatus from Sacramento State, she was a volunteer assistant coach for one season at Stanford University. During the 2000 season, the Cardinal were the NCAA runner-up, PAC-10 Champions and held a 31-3 record. Murphy earned her first collegiate coaching position at her alma mater University of California - Davis where she was an assistant coach for the men’s team from 1991-93.

COLLEGIATE PLAYING CAREER An outstanding collegiate player, Murphy was a member of the UC Davis team where she was named to the AVCA First Team All-America in 1991 and 1992. She holds the school record in career kills, career attacks, career hitting percentage and career service aces and was a 1998 inductee into the UC Davis Hall of Fame.

PERSONAL Murphy earned her B.S. in Human Development from UC Davis in 1993. Murphy has two children, Jackson and Katherine.
